TL;DR (Too Long; Didn't Read) closed earlier than stated on Restuarant Website and Front Door hours. Double checked hours to make sure it wasn't my mistake, closing time was stated to be 9PM, was closed at 8:20 PM on Friday night, instead of 9 pm posted hours. Only wanted some craft beer not a full meal.
I would love to share details of the Brew House and my experience with you about the actual food and restaurant, because I was really excited to visit the Brew House. However, I arrived at 8:20 at night. We were met with both front doors being locked. I never even got to step foot in the place. I thought it may have been oversight on my part but then I checked the hours that were present on the door. I looked up the hours online and it corresponded with the 9:00 p.m. closing time that I had found from their website. As we only wanted to sample some of their craft brews and sit at the bar for a few minutes, the early closing time was very disappointing. I used to be a server in Gatlinburg Tennessee, I understand closing early, but not a Friday night, especially when you have the opportunity for awesome tips (again former server, I tip as much as I can) and a good review on Google. The managers and owners I worked with would never do that to the public or their repeated customers. If you look, I usually only report postive experiences about a location, even if there are hiccups, I can understand. We were disappointed and embarrassed as there were many patrons and servers inside as fumbled with the doors. At least post the correct hours, Covid or not, I could understand. But your hours are posted on your front door as well on the website at 9:00 p.m. I don't know if there was an oversight or something happened with the employees in the restaurant or the managers or owners are having a hard time. I hope that's the case. If so please let me know. I'd love to revisit as I travel frequently from TN to CT for business, and give an honest review about your business.
We ended up visiting Spring House Tavern, I would highly recommend as they have a closing time of 11 PM currently and serve craft beers. Revisited next day for dinner and it was amazing. I made a post about my dining experience there after Brew House was closed. In regards to their response below, I emailed and never heard anything back. Again I wasn't there at 8:20 to eat that night, I was there to have drinks. The kitchen closing at 8 PM has nothing to do with my wanting to visit and have a few drinks at the bar. Read the whole review. Your own hours you stated still coincide with what I originally posted and were still wrong. The bar locked up with many patrons inside.
If it wasn't closed til 9 PM (the bar) why wasn't it open at 8:20 PM? Just drinks, no food. I keep repeating my times and purpose for being there, as it seems that there is some miscommunication on this front.
Sorry for my surprise at an establishment being closed a full 40 minutes earlier than stated and your response taking no accountability. Again I had checked the time online before visiting, while we were there I also took another look online, thinking it was my mistake, still 9 PM there, then on the doors also stated 9 Pm. I don't appreciate the intent of...
   Read moreTOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT!!! STAY AWAY!!!
We were a large group (27 people), and had made a reservation weeks in advance. We arrived at 7pm, they pointed us to our table.... with room for 18 people. We had to ask other people to move so that we could all get seated (we later found out that the people we asked to move was one of the owners and his friends).
It took until after 7:30pm for everyone to place their order, as we all had to stand in line to place our order at one of 2 registers. We then had to wait forever for the food to come out, with the last couple of orders finally arriving after 9:30pm! It was total chaos. You knew it was bad when people throughout the place (not just our group) were applauding when their food finally arrived.
When I spoke to one of the owners, he explained that they just can't really handle such a large crowd all at once. I suggested that maybe they shouldn't take reservations for such large groups (or at least make it clear how long we would have to wait), and his response was "yeah.... we're not going to do that... people never mind waiting more than an hour for their food". WHAT?!?!? Did he really just say that?!?!? I was appalled by his indifference. Part of me wished he would have lied and told me he felt bad for us having to wait so long (but he didn't).
The beer was very good, but you had to wait in the same line to get a beer as to order food, and few were willing to wait in line to get a second beer.
The food was "good" (but check out the pic of how small the wings were), the beer was "very good", but the service and ownership is the model for how NOT to run a business. Stay away from this place, until they learn how to run a...
Read moreI was happy to find the Woodstock Brew House on my way home from my family's vacation. It's in a very pretty historic section of Woodstock, which is well worth checking out as well!
Let's start with the best part. The food and the beers are fantastic. I mean, really good. Even my picky eater kids liked everything and ate everything that we ordered.
Make sure you order the pretzel when you're there too. You'll probably only need one because it's HUGE! We just chopped ours up at the table and helped ourselves.
This was the second time on my vacation that we went into a restaurant and had to order at the counter/bar for ourselves, then the food was brought to us after taking a number for the table. I am not a fan of this style of dining at all, but I think I figured out why it's showing up more. There are fewer servers at restaurants now, so to help be more efficient with the servers that they do have, they've changed things up a bit with this style of ordering. It's definitely not my favorite thing when dining out. I hope this goes away as more people fill server positions.
It was a bit pricey as well. We paid $90+ for a family of 4. We had an appetizer, 4 meals (2 kids) and 2 beers with no dessert.
Thankfully, as I mentioned before, the food was great, so I can definitely recommend it, despite the cost and the service style.
We'll be...
