Update 9-3-22: Still a great time. A local tip for faster and easier parking is to go park at the horse show in the rear of the fair. It's cheaper ($5 this year vs $10 everywhere else) and you can skip the traffic in every direction. The only downside is that you have to walk uphill to get to the fair and dodge a bunch of horses (though there is a shuttle available).
