Vintage Grace has threatened to sue us for defamation if we do not retract or revise our honest review of their business detailing our experiences. They have stated all of our examples of events which have occurred in the community are “provably false”. So, we are going to revise our post with very specific details of all documented and witnessed issues and actions (multiple witnesses consisting of current and past tenants) so there is not any perceived ambiguity with what has actually occurred. We understand from the letter they are very upset and state the review does not provide accurate details. So, we are going to accommodate their demands with very specific information.
They have stated our review has damaged their business and yet they supposedly are sharing with the community they have been offered $3M for the property and the waiting list to lease here is long plus all of the lots are leased as soon as they are available.
The only person damaged by any of this is us. We have been forced to move, incurring thousands of dollars in moving costs while packing and arranging for our move while undergoing chemo in the middle of the winter months, and retaliated against for challenging them and the inability to admit they made mistakes when calculating the property tax and other community related problems.
Detailing our personal experiences, which is supported with documentation, is protected speech. Just because a business does not like negative information being shared does not mean we have to be silenced. We have the ability to move but some tenants in the community cannot just pick up and move. In fact, most cannot. They are elderly, perhaps on fixed incomes, have health issues and being forced to move is not an option for them. So, they stay silent knowing what will happen if they do speak out.
We are not doing this for ourselves, we are speaking out for them. They can’t say anything so we are willing to take the hit with the hope the owners change and keep the promises they made when we moved here. We are more than just a paycheck for this business. We live here and the amenities were were told we would have should be completed. Walking trails, seating areas, patio cover, property tax overcharges (refunds due) etc.
Perhaps the owners should focus on doing what they promised instead of spending money on lawyers and threatening to sue tenants for holding them to their promises.
Kathie Brown sent the links to our reviews to every tenant in the community (except for us, of course) asking them to read the reviews and then post responses with positive reviews which you can read here. We did not send links to anyone as we simply posted our reviews just as another tenant did. In fact, he posted his review THREE years ago. The owners did not threaten to sue this man. Yet another example of the ongoing retaliation we have personally experienced for speaking out.
We have never discussed any of these issues with tenants Ron, Linda, Mary, Neil or Michelle but the owners have made derogatory statements to tenants in the community about us which has resulted in us being called names in writing and verbally: Ron called us “a horrible person” (we have never discussed anything with this tenant), Linda refuses to say Hi anymore and is unfriendly and will walk by intentionally ignoring us, Mary turns her back when saying hi and is openly hostile, Neil and Michelle (who portray themselves to be loving Jehovah Witnesses and walk with Christ) resorted to calling us names and labeling us liars in writing. None of these individuals have talked with us personally nor have we discussed any of these issues with them. The derogatory, untrue statements the owners have made about us has resulted in us being treated with open hostility by neighbors.

Read moreI’ve been a resident of Vintage Grace now for 5 1/2 years. I absolutely love it here. It is beautiful, so well-kept, peaceful, and safe. Almost all of the residents have been here for several years or since inception of the community. Kathie and Jim, the owners, are amazing and caring people who look out for our safety and well-being in multiple ways and have invested so much into the community to build ponds, plant more trees, and to help us enjoy the amenities, wide-open spaces, wooded areas, and nature all around us. Examples: They publish a monthly calendar of fun events so that we can all regularly gather and enjoy each other’s company. We have pot luck events in the Community Center and other food and fun events in the Patio building, which the owners built for our additional enjoyment a few years ago. They have outfitted this building with glass patio doors for enjoying beautiful days, a great kitchen with quartz countertops, large-screen TV and terrific sound system for regular movie nights and concerts, fitness equipment, and games. We have game nights, coffee mornings, birthday parties, and exercise classes. Many residents also sponsor their own fun events, such as wine & cheese parties, BBQ’s, art classes, ice cream socials, pumpkin carving, etc. The owners provided a brand new dog park area for our canine friends and we have just had our first doggie birthday party! LOL. We gather for everything from long walks to fireside chats, while also getting to enjoy our own little cozy and comfortable homes. Kathie & Jim, along with our fellow residents, regularly help each other with such “grace” when someone is ill or needing help with various tasks. We have each made lifelong friends here… no shortage of hugs to go around when we gather. I thank Jim and Kathie for providing us with such a charming community and for fostering guidelines to ensure a beautiful place to live with the most aesthetic appeal and some of the most incredible sunrises and sunsets I’ve ever seen! Having lived the big city life with a long career in corporate America, I am so blessed to live my retirement years at Vintage Grace. It is such an amazing place to call home… I always say that I feel like I am both at home and on vacation at the very...
Read moreI’ve lived at Vintage Grace just shy of a year, and it has been wonderful! Everything the residents share about this place is true… It’s peaceful, there are activities, it’s beautiful, and there is joy and unity here. The one thing that means the most to me is that the owners, Kathie and Jim, only charge a fair and reasonable amount for us to live in such a great place. They use our rent money to sow back into the community, providing us with even more enhancements to the property. One thing that stood out to me when I was inquiring about living here is that Kathie told me that their motive is not to make money; their motive is the people… to offer a place of happiness where people can come and rest and enjoy their retirement years. They have lived up to what she said. It truly is a great place with...
