Every few weeks, I stop by Hidden Treasures to see what's new. This is easily my favorite antique store in the York area. It's not a thrift shop (where everything is cheap and you just might find a gem if you dig enough), a junk barn (where nothing is cared for or organized in any way), or a highly curated luxury antique store (where everything is fascinating but you'll spend $500 for a buoy or broom). Hidden Treasures really is a treasure hunt of a store: tons of booths from different collectors, many only loosely themed; prices that let you impulse shop without hurting your wallet; a huge footprint, letting you wander for and hour or two without getting bored. I've been maybe eight times in the past year, and I know I'll be back before long. Highly recommended.

Definitely worth the drive if you don’t live close by! I’ve been visiting literally any antique store I drive past and this one nearly takes the cake!!! Absolutely loved browsing and vendors have different sales going on. I just so happened to pull into the parking lot when a vendor was dropping off THREE world globes (one on a stand!!!) and I was able to make a great deal with her before she put them out!!!!

Lots of cool and interesting stuff. Not your average oversized garage sale with junk that smells like old people. Plenty of tools, weapons, and random other “guy” stuff so its not boring to look around like most antiques places. Definitely worth a visit.

ZERO STARS and I have a very good reason why.

I found an item I really wanted to buy but the price was over double what they go for online. I asked the man at the counter if they would negotiate. This was the store owners son. After showing him proof the item was marked way overpriced he agreed but told me he couldn’t negotiate on behalf of the owner of the booth. Understandable. He told me that he would call the owner and see if he would drop the price. The only reason he didn’t all the guy while I was in the store is because the power went out and he didn’t have access to the phone number. I told him I would be back later in the week and that’s where we left it. No problems so far. He wasn’t particularly nice but he was respectful.

However when I called the store a few days later a different man picked up the phone.

He was rude from the very beginning of the call. I explained my conversation with the other employee and asked if he could check the price on that item. He begrudgingly did and the price hadn’t changed. He asked what I wanted for the item and I simply said I wanted to pay the price they go for online.

To this, he snarkly said “well you’ll have to buy it on eBay then, because you’re not gonna get it here for that price”. Assuming the first employee I talked to never called the owner of the item, I asked the new guy if he could call the owner. What wasn’t a problem a few days ago became the absolute end of the world. He berated me over the phone and flat out refused to be cooperative. I had to hang up on him while he was in the middle of this rant about how unreasonable I was being…

According to other reviews, I’m not the first person to have this problem…. Places like this go out of business and then people wonder why Maines economy is...

I have been a customer of this wonderful store for years. They have a huge variety of fun things and lots of nice old tools, cast iron pans, and all sorts of beautiful treasures. Until my visit today, I had overwhelmingly positive experiences with the men working behind the counter. They were always extremely helpful and interested in discussing the history behind items in the store.

After driving an hour out of my way to make sure to get to the store with an hour to shop before they closed at 6pm, I was greeted with a gruff man telling me that I had 15 minutes because he was closing far earlier since this listing apparently is wrong and hasn’t been updated to reflect their actual hours of operation.

I could have been fine with that mistake. However, when I chose not to buy a basket I had thought I would purchase, I was taken aback by the nasty reaction from the older man who was “helping” me check out. I said I was sorry for any inconvenience (I genuinely was or I wouldn’t have said so) and he curtly told me “no you’re not.”

I didn’t know if he was kidding so I told him that I meant what I said and was sorry for clearly having upset him. He never said another word beyond glaring at me and slamming the door shut to lock it behind me.

Trying not to let this one negative experience taint my overall positive feelings about this store as all the items are sold by different vendors and the cheerful and helpful employees had previously been a reason why shopping here was worth the drive. It was really negative and uncomfortable from the moment I walked through the door on this most recent occasion and I will likely not be coming back for a while...

I’ve been here numerous times in the past with good experience. Family came up to Maine from Boston today and stopped in. I saw 4 signs in the back room on a shelf. One wasn’t marked and I asked the older man at the counter if he knew the price of the oil sign which I took a picture of. I could immediately tell that he wasn’t interested in helping me as he turned away from me stating that items on the shelf were not marked for sale yet. I showed him another picture of the other signs I was interested in that had price tags on them. Numerous times I attempted to talk to him about buying the signs and he told me to come back Wednesday thru Saturday. I told him I’m from Boston and it was a 2 hour drive. Once again his attitude prevailed and he sat down like the conversation was over. I was trying to purchase at least $480 worth of store merchandise but was met with attitude. I then told the older gentleman that it was bad business to have items marked for sale and to refuse to help actually purchase the items. He was extremely unhelpful and made no attempt to call the owner or his son to help. I then exited the store while once again stating that items was bad for business. I wonder if the owner knows that he $500 today or if he...
