I wish I could give this place 6 stars! We had the BEST night with our guide, Tony, and his team.
We had a 5 year-old with us, which they were totally relaxed about, and the other guides were extremely helpful in keeping her entertained while Tony told us all about the food, the culture and the history of the districts and the food we were eating.
On the back of their scooters, we zipped to various locations well off the beaten path, eating shoulder-to-shoulder with local families, and enjoying the MOST delicious food. From busy local market stalls to hidden restaurants tucked down narrow alleys between mid-rise apartments, we saw a picture of Saigon city life that we never would have seen out on our own.
Tony and the other guides seemed to be having as good a time as we were. They spoke excellent English and were very professional, but they were also relaxed and warm, and they were wonderful hosts and ambassadors for their fine city.
The food itself was FANTASTIC. We loved hearing Tony's tips for hunting out great street food. (Kitchen in the front! Fresh ingredients in plain view! Clean but well-used cookery!). Hands down the best Banh Mi and Banh Xeo I've ever had. We also had some really exceptional shellfish at a colorful back-alley establishment, and cracked rice, which was a completely new and delicious experience for me.
I cannot recommend Saigon Street Eats highly enough, and I strongly encourage anybody who likes great food and finds themselves in Ho Chi Minh City to...
Read moreWe highly, highly recommend Saigon Street Eats. I really cannot say enough about the quality of our experience. My husband and I joined a small group evening tour, led by Vu, in March 2025. Everything we ate, from conch to chè to cơm tấm and more, was fresh, delicious, and beautiful—prepared just for us, as we arrived. The care put into these dishes—such as the gorgeous variety of greens served with the bánh xèo, the sizzle and smoke that rose from the conch, to the artistic presentation of the nine different desserts—demonstrates that Vu has the respect of the vendors we visited. Indeed, he knows them and their craft as few others could since he grew up in Vietnam and was from an early age a part of his mother’s restaurant. Vu explained how these humble dishes fit into everyday Vietnamese life, and his reflections on history and culture were smart and entertaining. The staff who took us to each location were perfect hosts—warm, gracious, and skilled bike drivers. The evening was well-organized and all communication with Saigon Street Eats was clear. I trust every cent of what we paid went a Vietnamese national. If you are looking for a tour to fill your time while in Ho Chi Minh City, you can find less expensive ones, but what a waste of your precious time. Saigon Street Eats gives you a more enriching and ethical option, offering not just a tour but a...
Read moreTony and Niki’s food tour through Saigon was legit a 12/10! Tony, a legend in his own right, possesses an incredible depth of historical knowledge, making every tour an enlightening experience. Plus, he's incredibly approachable, making it easy to engage in conversation along the way. Niki was a smooth driver and brought a smile and her take on HCM to the table in a way that made us feel like we were just hanging out with mates. Exploring the city on their scooters, we savored traditional delicacies like spicy/herby bahn mi, indulged in rich premium pho, and enjoyed authentic Vietnamese cake. Tony and Nikki's scouting led us through the best routes, unveiling Saigon's hidden gems with every turn. Their smooth navigation through the city's chaotic traffic left us feeling safe and relaxed throughout the entire adventure. Without a doubt, I'll be recommending Tony and Nikki to all my friends visiting Saigon, and I'll certainly be booking with them again on my next trip here....
