šŸ›ļø Athens Travel Notes (Part 1) šŸ‡¬šŸ‡·

🌟🌟🌟🌟 Acropolis Museum If you're not familiar with Greek history, start here before visiting the Acropolis. It'll help you make sense of the ruins! ā˜• The museum restaurant offers a stunning close-up view of the Acropolis from its outdoor terrace — perfect for coffee with a view. šŸŽŸļø No ticket needed if you're only visiting the restaurant: take the elevator on the left after security to the second floor. Highly recommended! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Acropolis A must-visit for first-timers in Athens! šŸ’° The €30 combo ticket is worth it if you plan to visit the Acropolis plus two other sites (Acropolis alone is €20; other sites cost €10 each). ā° I bought my ticket at the entrance at 4 PM — no need to plan ahead, and the crowd thins out near closing time. āœ… Pros: fewer people, empty photo ops like the Propylaea. āŒ Cons: you'll be a bit rushed. For a relaxed visit, book online in advance to skip long queues. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Philopappos Hill A great spot for sunset, close to the Acropolis and less crowded. šŸŒ… Perfect during golden hour — the light washing over the Acropolis is magical! šŸ“ø Also a fantastic spot for night views. Bring a telephoto lens for the best shots. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Lycabettus Hill Another ideal sunset viewpoint, though the main platform gets very crowded. 🚶 Instead, I recommend walking down toward Prasini Tenta, Lykavitos, and finding a quiet spot along the path to sit and enjoy the view. šŸ€ If you're lucky, you might catch the sun setting right behind the Acropolis! šŸ’œ Bonus: I spotted gorgeous wisteria on the way up in March šŸ’œ šŸ“· Telephoto lens recommended here too — or try the rooftop bar A for Athens for a closer, no-lens-needed option. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Panathenaic Stadium The only spot I took the bus to — easy tap-on payment. šŸƒ You can run on the track! Visit the museum to see the Beijing Olympic torch, buy a replica medal at the gift shop, run a 400m lap, and stand on the podium for a photo. A truly memorable experience! 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Syntagma Square & Monument to the Unknown Soldier Catch the changing of the guard every hour in front of the Parliament. ā±ļø Arrive 10–15 minutes early to get a good view. A unique and symbolic ceremony! #LifeInEurope #Athens #Greece #AthensTravel #Wanderlust
