🌶️ Is Dan Gui in Seattle Really That Good?

Boldly dubbed the "ceiling of Sichuan-Hunan cuisine in Seattle," Dan Gui had a lot to live up to — so we went to see if it could reach the heights! 🏻 The second we stepped in, we were greeted by a larger-than-life photo of Lang Lang — guess if we can’t attend his concert, we can at least eat where he eats 😉 🍽️ What We Ordered & Honest Thoughts: 🐸 Dry Pot Frog with Perilla The star of the meal! Tender frog meat infused with aromatic perilla leaves — so flavorful! One small gripe: the frog was cut into tiny pieces, so it took some work to eat. Still, totally worth it! ✨ 🌶️ Signature Stir-Fried Pork with Peppers A classic Hunan dish executed well — wok hei on point! 🔥 Interesting twist: wood ear mushrooms added a fun, bouncy texture. 🍆 Mashed Eggplant with Chili & Century Egg Skip this one. As a die-hard fan of this dish (I even make it at home), this version was too oily, and the flavors didn’t meld well. I prefer a brighter, more balanced take. 💸 Damage: ~$60 per person — not exactly budget-friendly. 🏆 Verdict: Solid flavors, but my personal #1 remains Xiang Ba Lao (for now!). Still curious to try Shao Shan Chong next! 😋 Broke Foodie Rating: 3.5/5 📍 Dan Gui Sichuan Cuisine 13112 NE 20th St, Bellevue, WA 98005 🏷️ #DanGui #SichuanCuisine #HunanFood #SeattleChinese #SpicyEats #BellevueEats #FoodReview #CeilingCheckFailed
