As someone who grew up with Sichuanese parents and grew up eating Sichuan food, I came here excited for good food. I was sorely disappointed by a number of things. First and foremost, this was not Sichuan food but a lazy label slapped across what is mediocre Chinese food at bestā the spice and depth in flavor were severely lacking. What they lack in flavor was made up for decent portion sizes, but why provide extra of food that is already poor in quality?
The ę°“ē ®ēč (boiled spicy beef) I ordered came out in a large dish with a giant chip along the border. Immensely greasy, the texture of the beef was spongy and the broth was bland with no flavor profile other than slightly spicy (spicy being an understatement). I also ordered the cumin lamb. It had the flavor of a piece of paperā slight flavor of cumin was all that there really was. Nothing special, and definitely not something I would order again. I also ordered two dry pots (one with large intestine and one with spareribs)ā absolutely nothing noteworthy other than how bland it was.
Finally, I ordered their buns with condensed milk. The greasy dough balls dipped in condensed milk was disappointingly the ābestā part about the dinner.
The food shows up decently in photos if you turn the exposure all the way up in the weak fluorescent lighting of the restaurant with bare walls save for a few framed photos. There was nothing special about the service either, as you put in your own order on your phone and they just bring the food out.
This place was disappointing at best. I will not be recommending this place to anyone, nor will I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been looking for a new szechaunese restaurant since my last favorite one closed. Main thing is, I'll definitely be returning and encourage others to check it out. More details below if you want to learn more.
Food: One of my favorite dishes is served here. Called boiled beef. Beef over cabbage and in this restaurant's case, sprouts. With a thick broth covering it. It was as good as my last place. And the addition of the sprouts were good. I had dry pot cabbage, den den noodles, cummin lamb. All very good. The den den was different then what I was expecting but still good. I need to go back and try more dishes there. Very good food and that will bring me back. Forgot to get photos, but their photos are good representations.
Service: The service was acceptable, not necessarily good or bad. What would have made the difference is wait staff that know their dishes better. Since I don't read Chinese, I have to go with descriptions of dishes when I go to a new restaurant. The staff member that started to help us didn't know and needed to get help. We were sort of helped by other staff. They were patient with us and attempted to help. So not bad in any way, just seemed like new staff.
Establishment: Nice, clean place. We went for a mid-week lunch and it was only 25% full. I'm wondering if it's a newer establishment. Hopefully it will get well established and stick around. So I encourage you to try it out. If you like szechaunese food, you won't be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDan Gui Sichuan Cuisine offers a good dining experience, especially for seafood lovers seeking bold and flavorful dishes. The restaurant's menu showcases a wide variety of options with a grand selection of seafood dishes that stand out. From delicate fish to rich shellfish, each dish is diligently prepared, bringing out the fresh, natural flavors while infusing the heat and zest of Sichuan spices. For those who prefer meat, the restaurant doesnāt disappoint with its robust array of dishes either.
One of the key highlights of the menu is the spiciness, which is a hallmark of Sichuan cuisine. From fiery hot-pots to spicy stir-fries, the bold, tongue-tingling flavors are perfect for those who enjoy a bit of heat in their meals. But even for those not so keen on spice, the balance of flavors ensures that each dish is enjoyable.
In addition to the great flavors, the prices at Dan Gui Sichuan Cuisine are quite reasonable for the quality and quantity offered. The portions are generous, and the service is friendly, making it a great place for a casual meal or a gathering with friends and family. Overall, I suggest this place for anyone who loves authentic...
