🏛️ Old Ebbitt Grill | Checking Out the ‘White House Canteen’ in DC
Visited DC for an event at the beginning of the month and took a break to explore some must-visit spots. As lunchtime approached, I did a quick search for nearby food and came across this place. Dubbed the ‘White House Canteen,’ I just had to give it a try! 🙉🙉🙉 This historic establishment is not only famous for its rich history and classic cuisine but is also an indispensable dining landmark for countless tourists and locals alike. Stepping into Old Ebbitt Grill, I was immediately drawn to its classical elegance. The wooden decor, warm lighting, and nostalgic photos create a cozy and refined atmosphere (but I forgot to take pictures 🥲). The staff were also very friendly and professional, and since I wasn’t very hungry, the server suggested a suitable portion size. I ordered the George Bank Scallops, which came with five large scallops. The base was some sort of brown rice (didn’t taste like white rice and had pine nuts and corn) and the sauce was a bit tangy. Overall, it was a delicious combination and quite filling. I ended up taking the rest to go. 😂 They offer non-alcoholic cocktails, but I can’t remember the name of the one I had. It was a raspberry and lemon drink, super tangy! 🙊🙊 I went around 1 PM on a weekday, and since I was alone, I didn’t have to wait long. However, there might be a short queue if you’re in a group. #WashingtonDC #WashingtonDCFood #WashingtonDCTrip #MyLife #AmericanLife #WhiteHouse #WhiteHouseCanteen #TheWhiteHouse
