We booked with Pennicott Wilderness Journeys – 3-hour yellow boat cruise, $175/person (book ahead!) Saw whales up close – twice! πŸ‹ Afternoon light is backlit but not too sunny πŸ‘ πŸ“ Bay of Fires Cosy Corner has white sand & orange lichen rocks πŸ”₯ Lying on the rocks by the sea = ultra relaxing 😌 πŸ“ Cradle Mountain Highly recommend the hike: Start at Ronny Creek (Overland Track) β†’ Marion Lookout β†’ Wombat Poo πŸ’© β†’ Lake Lilla β†’ end at Dove Lake 🏞️ Took us 4+ hours (with photos). Sun was behind us – perfect lighting! The chain section is short & not hard πŸ§— Dove Lake offers epic reflections of the mountain πŸ“· πŸ“ Stanley Feels like the end of the world on a cloudy day 🌫️ Windy AF – almost blew away πŸ’¨ Penguin viewing at Godfrey’s Beach Penguin Viewing Platform – so cute! 🐧 (but dress warm – it’s freezing!) 🍽️ Food & Drinks Australian coffee – lives up to the hype β˜• Lease 65 oysters – super fresh! πŸ¦ͺ Take them to The Hub at Binalong Bay (sister shop of The Hub Derby) – their wood-fired pizza is delicious! πŸ• Mrs Jones in Devonport – Roasted Chicken Breast with sweet chili sauce was surprisingly juicy and tasty πŸ— Marley’s in Stanley – cozy brunch spot πŸ₯‘ Berth in Melbourne Docklands – all mains were great. The 600g T-bone (chef’s rec) was the best beef we had in Australia! πŸ₯© (We mostly ate seafood… and it was just okay.) ⚠️ Tips: Book restaurants in advance – always! πŸ“… Wildlife can jump onto roads – drive carefully 🦘 Some roads from Bay of Fires to Cradle Mountain are dark, unlit, and have no service πŸŒ²πŸ“΅ Most places accept card (with a small fee) πŸ’³ πŸ›οΈ Shopping: Lululemon outlet in Melbourne CBD – styles are limited and ugly, skip it πŸ™… Patagonia in Fitzroy – meh πŸŽ’ Kathmandu – locals’ favorite outdoor brand!
