7 Days 6 Nights Happy Tassie Road Trip โ Hobart Edition ๐
Finally made it to Tasmania with my partner during the Ekka long weekend! Saved one day off work โ yay! Note: Weโve both been to Hobart before + weโre low-energy travellers ๐ so this itinerary is super relaxed โ no hardcore hikes or nature marathons. We even had time to nap before dinner every day ๐ด ๐จ Stayed at: DoubleTree by Hilton Hobart Day 1 Landed in Hobart at night โ๏ธ Picked up our pre-booked SUV from Thrifty right at the airport โ super smooth! Total car rental cost: around $700 ($190 full insurance + $500 rental) ๐ก Tip: Thrifty uses Hertz cars in Tassie. The staff might try to sell you extra insurance โ just tell them youโre already fully covered! Day 2 ๐ Salamanca Market (open Saturdays!) Spent a good few hours here ๐๏ธ Sampled local whiskeys and gins ๐ฅ Loved the handmade crafts (wooden magnets available here, but the ones in Richmond are cuter!) Grilled scallop skewers = ๐ but pricey โ $17 each Oysters = ๐ super salty, not rinsed well โ skip โem! ๐ Mount Wellington Drove up in the afternoon โ road is narrow but paved well. Just take it slow around bends! ๐๏ธ Day 3 Drove 20 mins to Richmond Brunch at Czegโs Cafรฉ โ cozy and yummy! โ๐ฅ Then headed to Port Arthur ๐๏ธ Took the C-road instead of the A-road โ saved 20 mins! The C-road was actually newer and smoother than some A-roads ๐ฎ Just a bit narrower โ totally fine in good weather. Day 4 Bruny Island day! Ferry ticket: $53.20 (return) Skipped the lighthouse this time (been there before) Designed the route to avoid backtracking โ all main roads ๐บ๏ธ Highlight: spotted a WHITE WALLABY in Adventure Bay!! ๐ฆ๐ค So magical! Heads up: allow plenty of time to drive back to the ferry + expect queues. Plan ahead! โณ Day 5 Headed off to Launceston & Stanley! ๐๐จ (Hobart part ends here โ more Tassie adventures coming soonโฆ) #Tasmania #TasmaniaTravel #TasRoadTrip #HobartDiaries #HobartTravel #ExploreTas #AustraliaTravel #LowKeyTravellers
