🇨🇦 A Seafood & Steak Feast: The Highlight of My Ottawa Trip 🥹❗️

#FoodMomentsOnTheRoad Whalesbone This Ottawa Escapade had its frustrating moments, but thinking back to the seafood and steak feast at Whalesbone still leaves me totally satisfied! 【Ambiance】4/5 Warm dark wood tones, soft amber lighting, and barnwood panels with deer heads on the walls—step in, and it feels like a cowboy bar where folks gather after a hunt. But here’s the charming twist: the food is 精致 (exquisitely crafted) and delicious, creating a delightful contrast between the rustic vibe and elevated dishes. 【Food】4.5/5 **Seafood Platter (Hot) - $135** 🌊 It was a rainy, chilly day when we visited, and we noticed both hot and cold seafood platters were priced at $135. Hot seafood platters are rare, but this one was incredible—no filler, no skimping. Bacon-wrapped scallops? Salty, savory perfection. Lobster roll? Tender and refreshing. Giant Argentine red shrimp? Juicy and rich. Mussels? Steeped in wine, fragrant and briny. Old Bay fish cakes with lime rémoulade? Creamy, not greasy—so satisfying. Caesar Salad + Anchovy - $21 + $5 🥗 The extra $5 for anchovies turned out to be the only letdown of the meal… Anchovies are always a gamble. When fresh, they elevate a dish; when fishy, they ruin it. Unfortunately, these were on the fishy side. But the Caesar salad itself? Delicious—crisp, creamy, and well-dressed. Oysters - $45 🦪 We ordered a dozen: six from the East Coast, six from the West. East Coast oysters were sweet and bright, while West Coast ones were rich and creamy—both so fresh they tasted like a bite of the ocean 🥹. 8 oz Striploin - $47 🥩 14 oz Ribeye - $80 🥩 They have their own aging room, and we went for medium-rare on both. The striploin is leaner, but the aging process made it tender, with concentrated beefy flavor. The ribeye? Always my favorite—tender meat, melt-in-your-mouth fat, and such intense beefiness it rivals high-end Toronto steakhouses. The value here is unbeatable~ Dessert 🍰 The chocolate mousse was rich, silky, and absolutely amazing! The carrot cake, though? A bit too sweet for our taste… 【Service】4.5/5 The staff were chatty, laid-back, and super knowledgeable. Plates came out at a good pace—no long waits. 【Price】4.5/5 Compared to Toronto, the value here is unreal 🥹! I’m not sure I’ll rush back to Ottawa anytime soon (the trip had its ups and downs), but could this restaurant please open a location in Toronto? #OttawaFood #OttawaSteak #CanadianStudentLife #Escapade #CanadianFood #TorontoStudentLife #CanadianLiving #FoodReview #OttawaEats 🍴✨
