🇨🇦 Niagara-on-the-Lake | The wine at this winery is amazing!
Ravine Estates Winery 📍 1366 York Rd, St Davids Friends who often come to Niagara for wine must know Ravine Winery 🍷 I remember the last time I came here for a meal, it was quite casual. But this time, it’s completely transformed into a fancy restaurant! My husband and I were totally underdressed when we sat down to eat—so awkward 😂 For starters, we ordered a half dozen oysters and a plate of grilled oysters. They were decent, tasty but not particularly mind-blowing 🦪 I ordered a medium-rare steak with fries. Overall, it was pretty good! The fries are homemade, and they were delicious 🍟 My husband got the lobster roll. This was a bit of a letdown… It’s not cheap, but they actually used imitation lobster! Plus, it was really small. The potato chips were good though—also homemade 🥔 Before leaving, we ordered another serving of fries and chips 😋 But the real star was the wine! We ordered a bottle of Gamay Noir. This red wine has a very light body. They described it as a "summer red" 🌞 When it was served, it felt a bit cooler than room temperature, so it must have been chilled. It has a strong fruity aroma—you can mainly smell cranberry, cherry, and a very oaky scent 🍒 The taste is super smooth. For Canadian wine, the acidity is low, and the tannins are also very mild. Overall, it’s a very easy-drinking dry red—highly recommend! 👍 Then we ordered a glass of small-batch riesling. OMG, this was the highlight of the entire dinner! ✨ The alcohol content of this wine is around 12%, but you can’t taste any alcohol at all! It smells strongly of roses, pears, and some green apples 🌹🍐 The taste reflects these fruity notes perfectly. The biggest surprise? It’s only $28 a bottle! But I checked their website, and it’s sold out. I asked the staff, and they said it’s still available at the winery. I immediately bought a bottle to stock up! 🛒 Overall, the food gets a 7/10 🍴 The wine gets a 9/10 🍷 I’d definitely repurchase the wine. For the food, I might go back to try their $150 steak meal for two, but probably won’t order a la carte again. #NiagaraOnTheLake #RestaurantRecommendation #WineTastingDiary #HiddenGemRestaurant #FoodDaily #WineDaily #NiagaraFalls
