I recently had the opportunity to play a round at St. David’s Golf Course, and while I thoroughly enjoyed the course itself and the well-maintained greens, unfortunately, one particular incident left a sour taste in my mouth.
The round was going well until we reached a par 3, and our group had an encounter with one of the groundskeepers. To our surprise, he decided to start maintenance work on the green just as we were about to tee off. Not only was this distracting, but it also seemed to disregard basic golf etiquette.
When I politely mentioned that his presence was a bit distracting, he immediately became confrontational and argued that he wasn’t on the green nor causing any distractions. The conversation quickly turned unpleasant when he dismissively responded with a casual “whatever.”
This incident significantly detracted from what had otherwise been an enjoyable day of golf. Golf etiquette is essential for creating a positive and respectful atmosphere on the course, and encounters like this one can have a lasting impact on the overall experience.
I hope that St. David’s Golf Course considers addressing this issue to ensure that future rounds are not marred by similar incidents. A little more attention to basic golf etiquette and respectful communication could go a long way in preserving the enjoyment of all players.
While I appreciated the course’s quality and maintenance, I would be hesitant to return until I am confident that such incidents are less likely to occur...
Read moreAs a long time patron of this 9 hole tucked beside the Niagara escrarpment in historic St. Davids, the course of 2025 has fallen far down the ladder. I played it last weekend and it has a tired, faded and ignored look. The greens were compete mess and it was impossible to not have goose crap on your gear. It was brutal. It sure seems the current ownership is just keeping the lights on. Such as shame - it's a beautiful track but no pride of ownership. Chippewa, Queenston (same owner) and Grand Niagara are much better 9 hole...
Read moreI have been playing here for over 20 years and this course was a gem.... always green and meticulously maintained. Well unfortunately that is no longer the case. They not only raised the price significantly but have totally neglected the course. Fairways are all brown with many dead-spots, greens are terrible and inconsistent. Its a real shame that this place has deteriorated the way it has. I wont be...
