🇨🇦 Ottawa’s Top Peruvian Cuisine

It was quite a day: first, a speeding ticket for going 110, then getting stuck in traffic due to a parade. Trying to take a shortcut only led to 15 extra minutes of detours because I didn’t know the area. The beef eye steak I wanted wasn’t available as a single order, and the dishes at Fauna were disappointing. I was in desperate need of a truly delicious meal to lift my mood—and thank goodness, I picked the right spot! 😌 First off, the ambiance is wonderful. As soon as I walked in, I knew I’d made a good choice. I’d seen recommendations on Xiaohongshu, so I specifically ordered the octopus rice. I’ve had Peruvian food fewer than five times, but this place is definitely at the top of my list! The dishes are both visually stunning and incredibly tasty 🍽️ The salad—with onions, tomatoes, Kewpie mayo, chives, and cilantro—blends perfectly. The onions and tomatoes seem to be marinated, giving a nice tangy kick. The octopus is super tender, with no off-putting flavors, and the texture is amazing! It was my first time trying squid ink rice, and I loved it. Plus, the plate was warm when served—such a nice touch! Before digging in, I lifted the plate to smell it, and all I could detect was the fresh aroma of the ingredients. The portion size was more than enough, too. Guys, I tried chatting with the restaurant owner and the server using my broken Spanish and limited knowledge of Peru—and they ended up giving me a complimentary appetizer they’d made for a competition: salmon with sweet potatoes. It was absolutely delicious! Later, they even sent out a tiny extra dessert after the main dessert. 🥰 The drinks were tasty, and the desserts were great too—both had a lovely orange flavor. The glazed orange dessert was so good I ate every bite. It was sweet and crispy, and the orange peel must have been perfectly prepared because there wasn’t a hint of bitterness! Overall, I’m beyond satisfied. If I had to rate it out of 10, I’d give it 12! I also loved the tableware—such a nice detail. This meal was truly healing; even as a guy, my mood completely softened. ❤️ #PeruvianFood #DinnerCheckIn #OttawaFood #OttawaLife #EmotionalValue #SoloTravel
