🇨🇦 Road Trip Across Canada 🇨🇦—Saskatoon 1️⃣
Day 7 of the trip: Departing from Edmonton, heading towards Saskatchewan🚙🚙 Elk Island National Park🚦 If you want to see bison, this is the park to visit. Despite its name, there wasn’t a single elk in sight. Instead, bison were everywhere. ❄️❄️ A large herd was resting in the nearest loop right after entering the park.🌈🌈 I’d only seen them in textbooks before, so seeing them in real life was(shocking). 🏖️🏖️ 🎆🖼️They’re really huge! We visited right after the rain and could see their footprints very clearly. ❗️❗️❗️ From this national park onwards, there will be large areas with no signal as you head east. It’s best to download offline maps in advance, otherwise you’ll easily get lost – especially Fido users 📶 (you’ll have no signal even when others do, and still none when others don’t).🌏🌏 Vegreville⛲⛲ Home to the world’s largest Easter egg (Canada 🇨🇦really has a lot of these quirky “largest” things . It’s great for photos and conveniently located on the way – highly recommended. 🐣 There’s a visitor centre here where you can use the restroom.🐳🐳 [Star] The Crooked Bush🌼 🌽🌽A huge (avoid) ❌❌❌ Never come here. Called a “Canadian wonder,” seeing it in person will make you laugh in frustration. 🍟 🥩What even is this? While the natural phenomenon is interesting, it’s only worth a stop if you’re passing by – definitely not worth a special trip. 🍇🍇 👁️👁️The road conditions are terrible too; most of it isn’t paved, just gravel and dirt roads. After driving dozens of kilometers, both you and your car will feel like falling apart. 🥜 Our little beat-up BMW started making strange noises after this drive – it went away after another stretch of gravel road, though 👊👊 First Noodle House🏠🏠 We arrived in Saskatoon in the evening. This noodle shop was recommended all over it, so we decided to try it. We ordered the lamb hot pot noodles and roujiamo (Chinese hamburger), and they were amazing. The soup was a bit salty, but the noodles were delicious.🍚🍛🍜🍝 The roujiamo had the crispy texture I love, with plenty of meat – almost as good as what I’ve had in Dalian. Highly recommended!🍃 🦋🦋Duck King My husband saw on Uber Eats that their roast duck rice was buy-one-get-one-free, so we immediately ordered it. Two meals for just over ten dollars – boss, do you even make a profit?🐠 🍊🍊When we went into the shop, we heard the boss speaking Cantonese, so it’s probably authentic. My husband said the taste was average, but for that price, it was really good.🐾 After dinner, we wandered around downtown. 🧀 🍷🍷It was quiet and had quite a few homeless people on the streets, but both the roads and buildings were very clean – much better than downtown Winnipeg later (no exaggeration, Winnipeg felt like a zombie apocalypse, really scary .🥭🥭 Still, it’s best to avoid walking around downtown after dark.🥔
