🇨🇦 Some Tips for a Self-Driving Trip in Yellowknife, Canada
👉👈5-Day 4-Night Self-Driving Trip to Chase the Aurora in Yellowknife🍑💨 🌧️Before the trip, I read some guides which were very helpful. 🐛 🐾Here I’d like to add some useful tips that are different from other articles.🐍 🙈- Choosing to drive by yourself makes travel convenient and flexible, allowing you to explore around Yellowknife.🦚 🎍- Weather forecast information is not very useful. During my 5-day and 4-night stay in Yellowknife, the weather and aurora forecasts were completely opposite to what we actually saw. 🍞 Man proposes, God disposes.🥢 ✨- In terms of probability, the chance of not seeing the aurora for more than 3 consecutive days is very low. Stay optimistic and don’t give up. On this trip, we didn’t see any aurora in the first 3 nights.🍳 🎉On the 4th night, when the weather forecast was "cloudy" (meaning it was very likely we wouldn’t see it) and the aurora forecast was "moderate" (meaning we could see at most a level 5.5), we saw level 8 red and purple auroras.💞 👀- The aurora can go from "good" to "spectacular" in just 10 seconds, so hold on!🌻 🐸- For self-driving, the ice road on Great Slave Lake and the hilltop east of Bullock Restaurant are both good places to watch👁️ the aurora. 🍔 They are only a 10-minute drive from the central trail, so there’s no need to go to Vee Lake 🌪️😭in the north. - Various aurora viewing tour day trips are in high demand during peak season, so try to book📖 in advance. 🌷- When we arrived in Yellowknife, we found that the information available online👑 was far from sufficient. 🗽 🎇Our daily itinerary was decided based on the information collected at that time, and it turned out to be very effective.❄️ 🌪️- Prepare enough food in advance, as there are limited local food🍿🌮 options. One of my companions is a chef. Before coming, he cooked a lot of food, and we brought a bunch of roujiamo (meat🥩 sandwiches🥪), date cake🍰s, and instant noodles🍜, which made us very satisfied. - Besides the scenery, there’s also culture to experience. 🌠 🛣️For example, the Aboriginal Day introduced by the grandma at the hotel front desk, the working holiday experience shared by the staff at Beck's Kennels, and the messages on the wall of Bullock's Bistro were all touching.🌙 - For self-driving🚘, Explorer Hotel is a great choice. Its location is a bit off in terms of transportation, but it’s only a 1-minute drive to the city center, and the accommodation 🚋environment is much more comfortable than other hotels🛳️ of the same class. - The first stop at the visitor center is very helpful. There’s a lot of information about local activities and the aurora, which can give you a comprehensive understanding of Yellowknife.☸️ #Yellowknife #YellowknifeAurora #Yellowknife #Aurora
