Yellowknife Survival Guide: Food Edition

Yellowknife Survival Guide: Food Edition! 🍽️🌌 Just visited Yellowknife for the Northern Lights and tested ALL the food spots—here’s the real talk you need! 😤 🍔 AMERICAN: Bullock’s Bistro (MUST-TRY!) 🐟 Famous fish spot! Open kitchen, fresh ingredients, and pan-fried whitefish is chef’s kiss 👌 💰 Price: $30-50 CAD 📍 Location: 3534 Weaver Dr 💡 Tips: • Their buffalo ribeye steak is LEGENDARY too! 🥩 • Lines get crazy during aurora season—go early or book ahead! 🍜 VIETNAMESE: A Taste of Saigon (PHO SAVES LIVES!) 🔥 Best pho in town! Perfect for warming up after freezing outside ❄️ ⚠️ Warning: • One pho spot is hidden inside a grocery store (takeout only, hard to find!) • Stick to A Taste of Saigon—the others are meh. 🥢 CHINESE FOOD: Red Apple Restaurant (AVOID! 🚫) 😤 Rant time: ❌ "Chinese menu" is more expensive than the English one (scam alert!) ❌ No free rice if you order from the Chinese menu (but English menu gets it??) ❌ No chopsticks… seriously?! 🍲 What we tried: • Mixed veggie stew (looked like leftovers 😒) • Salt & pepper fish (just okay, not worth the price) 🍫 SURVIVAL FOOD: Bring Your Own Snacks! 🍜 Instant noodles = LIFE (local options are limited, pack your faves!) 🍦 McDonald’s ice cream—eating it in -30°C is a VIBE ❄️😂 🛒 Where to shop: • Independent Grocer (biggest supermarket) • Shoppers Drug Mart (snacks & drinks) 🌠 NORTHERN LIGHTS + FOOD ITINERARY Day 1: • Dinner: Bullock’s Bistro (book ahead!) • Late-night snack: McDonald’s cone + instant noodles (comfort food!) Day 2: • Lunch: A Taste of Saigon (pho = warm hugs for your soul) • Dinner: Cook at your Airbnb (Chinese food here is risky 😬) 💡 PRO TIPS FOR SURVIVAL 1️⃣ Bring a thermos! Restaurants don’t give hot water. 2️⃣ CASH IS KING! Some places don’t take cards. 3️⃣ Uber Eats is your friend when it’s too cold to go out! YellowknifeFood #NorthernLightsTrip #CanadaTravel 👉 Next up: "How to Photograph the Aurora Like a Pro!" 📸 😋 QUESTION TIME: "What’s the weirdest thing you’ve eaten in Yellowknife?" Drop a comment! 👇 (Original content © – DM for reposting!) 🎉 BONUS EMOJIS BECAUSE WHY NOT? 🚀 🌟 🍁 ❄️ 🔥 🍜 🥢 🍔 🍟 🍦 #FoodieTravel #AuroraFood #CanadianArctic #TravelTips #EatLikeALocal #AvoidTheseSpots #SurvivalGuide
