🇩🇪 Fulda, Hesse: The Baroque City 🏛️✨
Fulda is conveniently located near both Kassel and Frankfurt. I often passed through by train—it’s a major transit hub, though the station itself is surprisingly small. The city center is compact and easily explored on foot. You can see most of it in 4-5 hours. Unfortunately, the weather during my visit was foggy 🌫️, which made many sights hard to appreciate clearly. Still, Fulda is known as the "City of Baroque" 🎭, with sculptures and historic architecture around every corner. Here’s what I explored: 1️⃣ Altes Rathaus Fulda (Old Town Hall) The most charming building in town! Its pointed spire gives it a fairytale-like vibe 🏰💫. 2️⃣ Vonderau Museum Located right next to the town hall. I wanted to visit, but pandemic restrictions were strict 😷. Vaccinated visitors can enter—it’s quite spacious! 3️⃣ Stadtschloss Fulda (City Palace) Stunning on a sunny day! I saw 2018 summer photos online with people laughing and dining 🧺☀️—a vivid contrast to the quiet, foggy scene I witnessed. The palace includes a museum and adjoins the Schlossgarten (Palace Garden) 🌸, filled with beautiful sculptures like the Flora Vase. 4️⃣ Dom zu Fulda & Dommuseum (Fulda Cathedral & Cathedral Museum) Right across from the palace, next to the tourist center. The cathedral is impressive (though I’ll admit—after a while, churches start to look similar 😅). The fog added a mysterious vibe ☁️🕍. The museum usually opens in the afternoon. 5️⃣ Klostergarten Kloster Frauenberg A monastery on the so-called "Nun’s Hill" 🏔️👵. From the top, you can see half of Fulda (it’s not very high, so not a full panoramic view). #Germany 🇩🇪 #TravelGermany ✈️#BaroqueArchitecture #HiddenGems #Fulda
