Fulda: The Baroque Gem of Hesse, Germany 🇩🇪✨
Nestled between Kassel and Frankfurt, Fulda is a major transport hub—though its train station is surprisingly small! 🚉 The compact city center is perfect for exploring on foot; you can see most highlights in 4-5 hours. My visit was shrouded in thick fog 🌫️, but Fulda’s Baroque charm still shone through. Known as the "City of Baroque," it’s dotted with stunning sculptures and architectural treasures. Must-See Spots: 1️⃣ Altes Rathaus Fulda (Old Town Hall) 🏰 The most picturesque building in town, with a fairy-tale-like pointed roof! 2️⃣ Vonderau Museum 🖼️ Right next to the town hall—unfortunately, strict pandemic measures kept me out (vaccinated travelers can enter). 3️⃣ Stadtschloss Fulda (City Palace) & Schlossgarten 🌿🏛️ The palace glows under sunlight ☀️ (check out 2018 photos online for proof!). Inside, a museum showcases aristocratic life, while the palace gardens feature elegant sculptures like Flora Floravase. 4️⃣ Fulda Cathedral (Dom zu Fulda) & Dommuseum ⛪ Opposite the palace, this cathedral is atmospheric in the fog. The adjacent museum opens in the afternoon. 5️⃣ Klostergarten Kloster Frauenberg ⛰️ A hilltop monastery (literally "Nuns’ Mountain"?) offering a partial but lovely view over Fulda—just don’t expect sweeping heights! Final Thoughts: Pre-pandemic vibes (lively crowds, sunny skies) feel like a distant dream now 😔, but Fulda’s Baroque beauty endures. Perfect for a day trip! #Germany #TravelGermany #Fulda #BaroqueCity #HiddenGems #Hesse #ExploreEurope
