Find Things to DoFind The Best Restaurants

🇩🇪 Leipzig Zoo is Soooo City! 🏙️🦒

1️⃣ The restaurants at Leipzig Zoo are absolutely gorgeous 😍 The famous Kiwara Lodge offers a brunch buffet for €24 🍽️. It’s located in the African area—about a 10-minute walk from the entrance and a bit hard to find. Reservation is required! Since English isn’t widely spoken in Leipzig, asking for directions can be tricky. When you arrive, give your reservation name, find a seat, and most importantly—pay first and get your wristband before getting food! Don’t be like me: I innocently joined the food line without paying, got loudly scolded in German by a staff member 🗣️😤, and had to yell back, “Speak English! Write in English! What’s going on?!” until a kind English-speaking visitor stepped in to translate. Honestly, no hard feelings—I’m a foreigner, misunderstandings happen, right? 😅 Oh, and maybe because it was too hot 🥵, only antelopes, zebras, guinea fowls, and ostriches were hanging out near the dining area. The giraffes were locked indoors 🦒❌. The restaurant near the entrance is perfect for lunch 🥪! There are also many riverside eateries where you can enjoy a meal while watching the animals. Also, btw, everyone here seems to love eating ice cream—Magnum bars are everywhere 🍦! 2️⃣ Recommended Visit Duration I entered at 9:40 AM, had breakfast, started touring around 10:40, and left exhausted by 3:00 PM—but I made sure I saw every single animal 🐾👀 (Note: There are barely any Asians in Leipzig. I didn’t see a single fellow Asian all day 😢). If you’re fast, half a day is enough. Some attractions, like the tropical monkey exhibit 🐒, had long lines of Germans—but honestly, I can just look at myself in the mirror instead 😌. 3️⃣ Ticket Price: Student tickets are €20. You can easily buy them on-site. 4️⃣ Highlights: The orangutans here wear sun-protective clothing! ☀️🧥 Check the feeding schedules—if you’re hungry, you can “fight” the animals for food 🍌🦍 (just kidding… maybe). Other than that, no particularly rare animals though. 5️⃣ Rant: Are Germans allowed to smoke in public places?! 😤 I got teary-eyed multiple times from the smoke in a place that’s supposed to be full of “Germany’s flowers” (aka kids) 🌸👶💧. #LeipzigZoo #VisitLeipzig #Leipzig #TravelGermany 🐘🌍✨
