🇪🇸 Found My Favorite Spanish Town: Jerez de la Frontera!
The true soul of Spain lives in the whitewashed villages of Andalucía ✨. Jerez—famous for its history, flamenco, and as the birthplace of sherry wine—is just a short drive from Sevilla and Cádiz (where we stayed, only 20 mins away by car!). Stepping into Jerez feels like time-traveling to the Middle Ages 🏰. Its elegant plazas, cobbled streets, and laid-back vibe are pure magic. Unlike tourist-packed cities, here it’s mostly locals sipping coffee or sherry outdoors, chatting for hours. We even stumbled upon a group of Spanish aunties singing flamenco after one too many drinks—pure spontaneous joy! 🎶👏 Must-See Spots 📍 Alcázar de Jerez (Moorish palace)—smaller than Sevilla’s but charming! Catedral de Jerez ⛪️—stunning Gothic-Baroque architecture, with hardly any crowds! The ticket includes an audio guide + VR experience—we lingered for ages. 🔥 The MAIN EVENT: Sherry Wine Tour! 🍷 Jerez’s centuries-old bodegas (wineries) are UNMISSABLE. Book an English tour (slots are limited!) or brave the Spanish one like we did (¡gracias, Duolingo! 🙏). The tour covers: Historic cellars with towering oak barrels Sherry production secrets (from grape to glass) A tasting session (just 1-2€ per glass!) paired with hearty tapas Gift shop—we left with Alfonso, Fino sherry, and sherry vinegar (a local star!). 🍽️ Foodie Heaven Jerez is packed with Michelin-worthy spots, especially seafood (thanks to its coastal proximity!). We tried Akase, an omakase gem using hyper-local ingredients—fresh, inventive, and shockingly affordable! Verdict: Andalucía deserves 839,272 visits—and Jerez is TOP TIER. 📍 Jerez de la Frontera, Spain 🚗 Easy day trip from Sevilla/Cádiz 🍷 Book wine tours EARLY! #SpainTravel #Andalucia #EuropeTravel #SlowTravel #SherryWine #FoodieParadise #HiddenGems
