D2 Jerez, Indulging in Sherry

Left the hotel after breakfast and turned left to the Central Market, expecting lively seafood stalls and bustling crowds… but all the fish vendors were closed! 😱 Never visit the market on Monday, never on Monday, NEVER ON MONDAY! Missed the chance to see the famous shrimp lady and the tuna guy. My travel buddy (a.k.a. my kid) fell asleep, so I just strolled around pushing the stroller aimlessly. The old town is tiny—passed the market again, still deserted. Gave up and headed to the train station. Breakfast was so heavy (thanks to my kid refusing to eat half of it and dumping it on me) that we skipped lunch. Glanced at the Roman Theatre and treated myself to a huge cup of ice cream for €3.75—totally worth it, not too sweet! 🍦 Hopped on the wrong train—meant to take the direct one but got on a slow metro instead. Oh well, still arrived. The 30-minute ride was my kid’s first metro experience, and she was bouncing around excitedly. 🚆 The real highlight of the day? Tio Pepe Sherry Winery Tour! €30 for an English-guided tour, 5 glasses of sherry, and tapas. The cellar smelled like oak barrels and sweet wine—kid dozed off immediately (drunk? 😆). Carried her in a sling, folded the stroller for stairs, and the super sweet guide gave her grape juice while I sipped sherry and even arranged an accessible exit for us. Now I know—don’t call it "sherry," it’s "vino de Jerez"! 🥂 After 5 glasses, pleasantly buzzed. Walked out to the stunning cathedral bathed in golden sunset light—pure bliss. 🌇 On the way back to the hotel, stopped at a playground where my kid played happily for an hour. Too full for a proper dinner, so grabbed salad, yogurt, and salmon baby food from the supermarket. #HiddenGems #EuropeTravel #Spain #Andalusia #SherryWine #Jerez
