🇫🇷 Amiens Day Trip | 20,000 Steps of Pure Charm!
Took the 8:30 AM TER from Paris Nord and arrived in Amiens by 9:30 AM—cooler than Paris but so refreshing, with endless greenery to soothe the soul! 🌿 Since Amiens is compact, we walked everywhere (no buses needed!). Attractions are just 10 mins apart, making it the perfect #CityWalk destination. 🌟 Our Itinerary 1️⃣ RDVBD2024 Volleyball Art Exhibit 🏐🎨 (Skip if no exhibit!) The main reason for our trip! A stunning volleyball-themed art show (details in my last post). Arrived at 10 AM, explored for 1.5 hours. 2️⃣ L'Homme sur sa bouée 🧣🚶♂️ A quirky statue standing in the Somme River—locals dress him in scarves and clothes! This time, he rocked a purple scarf (hope he didn’t overheat 😆). Nearby: FuFu Ramen (overhyped—€15 for mediocre ramen; better try local French spots!). 3️⃣ Amiens Cathedral ⛪✨ Massive & breathtaking (15-min walk from the station). Stained-glass windows = chef’s kiss 👌 (but the organ was under scaffolding 🚧). Souvenirs: €2 commemorative bills & €3 coins. 4️⃣ Picardy Museum 🏛️🦣 FREE for EU residents under 26 (bring student ID!). 3 floors of history: Basement: Prehistoric tools + Egyptian/Greek/Roman artifacts. Ground floor: Medieval sculptures & enamelware. First floor: Paintings + a giant mammoth skeleton! Souvenir shop: Grabbed a €2 commemorative coin. 5️⃣ Jules Verne’s House 📚🏠 €9 full price / €5 student. The author of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea lived here! floors + attic filled with manuscripts—a must for bookworms! 💡 Final Tips Walkable, green, and peaceful—ideal for a slow-paced day trip. Skip overhyped eateries; opt for local French cafés. #Amiens #DayTripFromParis #FrenchAdventures #TravelDiaries 🇫🇷✨
