This was a big dissapointment. I had read somewhere this was the best museum/gallery outside of Paris. However if you are English this isn't the case. There isn't a single piece of curation in english under any of the exhibits, you make get a board, with some English translation when you enter a room as an overview , but that's it, even the new exhibition on jules vernes 20000 leagues under the sea , had nothing and hence we walked straight through. The 2nd thing that was dissapointing was the overall quality of the art , I know that it is a very individual experience, but some of the art seemed as flat and lifeless as the 70s pictures you bought back from the Costa brava in the 70s. Read moreInteresting but so flawed. The website is available in English, also the entrance, the entry charge, and English language 'guide'. All promise a rewarding experience. Inside it is exclusively French language and the english language guide is as useless as if Mongolian. We are visiting here (Amiens) to celebrate French culture and heritage. Not being a fluent French speaker made it a next to worthless experience. If the commune of Picardie does not want non french people to come here, just say so and we will know to go somewhere else....
Read moreA very interesting museum with a large and varied archeology collection (ancient Egypt, Greece, Picardy - even prehistoric times), great works of medieval artists and craftsmen as well as beautiful paintings and sculptures from 17th to 20th centuries. Several works of art were absolutely mesmerizing (like "Lady Godiva" by J. Lefebvre and "The Voices of Alarm" by A. Maignan). The building itself is beautifully restored. I highly recommend this gorgeous museum to art and history lovers longing for an unhurried visit...
