đŸ‡«đŸ‡· Finally Tried an Amazing French Dessert in Lyon

🍼 Lyon Food Finds: Aux Merveilleux de Fred & More I stumbled upon this spot while wandering. At first, I didn’t want to buy the desserts—they looked as cloyingly sweet as British ones. 😍 But the line was long, and I kept seeing people with their chocolate bread, so I decided to give it a try.😊 👉👈I noticed a tiny dessert for just 2.2€—so many locals were grabbing it, so I followed suit. Then a lovely waitress offered me a free brown-colored one too! I was so grateful I bought them right away. I couldn’t wait to taste them on the street. I still don’t know the dessert’s name, but it’s made of meringue, coated in crispy crumbs. đŸđŸŽŒThe texture is unreal—it melts in your mouth like air, and it’s not too sweet at all! It was so good that after finishing the two, I went back for four more. đŸ„Ż The "Bigger Than Your Face" Chocolate Bread This bread is huge—I even had it as lunch on a 3-hour bus ride. It’s fragrant and not overly sweet. I’d seen it everywhere, but there’s also a red bean version. đŸŒș đŸŒ·đŸŒ·We almost got that, but a kind server at another shop let us try their red bean candy (with a peanut inside) and nougat—both were rock-hard, super thick, and way too sweet. That killed our curiosity for the red bean bread. Plus, the red bean bread in the old town is sold by weight (around 18€!), while this chocolate one is only 4€—total steal.🍉🍉 🍅 Market Tomato I also bought a tomato I’d been wanting. My mom joked it looked "lopsided," but it’s soft and mushy—just like the tomatoes I had as a kid. It’d be perfect for scrambled eggs (it’d definitely release juice!), though it tastes like a regular tomato—nowhere near as good as the small green-stemmed ones in the UK.🍅 🍜 Fufu Remen The photos of this ramen shop looked amazing, and it was packed—we even had to wait for a table. All the chefs are foreigners, but the food was great. 🎉🎉 The menu has solid options, and the pork belly in the ramen is chef’s kiss—braised, super flavorful. The onsen egg was also a hit!đŸ–ïž We ordered stir-fried noodles and ramen—no misses. Average cost: 14.5€ per person. Final thought: That French dessert from Aux Merveilleux de Fred is a must-try!đŸŒČ #FrenchDesserts #HiddenGemDessertShop #LyonFood #LyonLife
