🇬🇧 Coventry & Shakespeare's Town Day Trip
Originally just planned to visit Coventry, but found it a bit underwhelming 😅 – ended up making a spontaneous trip to Stratford-upon-Avon (Shakespeare’s Town) and it was totally worth it! 🚍 Transport Birmingham → Coventry: Direct train, ~20 mins 🚄 Coventry → Stratford: Take bus X18, £3 one-way. Get off at McDonald’s – the park is just 1 min away 🚏 Stratford → Birmingham: Direct train back, only 49 mins – super convenient! 🏙️ Coventry Quick Visit ▫️ Holy Trinity Church ⛪ (Free entry! Didn’t go in as there was a service on Sunday) ▫️ Coventry Cathedral 🏛️ (Mix of ruins and modern architecture – usually you can climb up for a city view, but currently under maintenance 🚧) ▫️ Herbert Art Gallery & Museum 🖼️ (Perfect for killing time – interesting exhibits!) 🥩 Jinseon Korean BBQ 🍖 Main reason I came to Coventry! Tried the BBQ platter and army stew – delicious and fairly priced. Highly recommend! 🌳 Shakespeare’s Town Highlights 🌿 Bancroft Gardens & Lake So many swans and ducks! 🦢🦆 You can buy £1 feed for them. Rowboats available on the lake 🚣, plus a Ferris wheel nearby 🎡. In summer, there are funfair rides – very lively! 🛍️ Sunday Market Food, jewelry, scented candles, handmade crafts – you name it! 🧺🍺 Bought two beers and chilled in the park – super relaxing 😎 💡 Market is only on Sundays – don’t miss it! 🗿 Shakespeare Statue 📸 Iconic landmark – must-take photo spot! 📚 Shakespeare Heritage Trail Shakespeare’s Birthplace 🏠: Where he was born – lots of souvenir shops nearby Shakespeare’s New Place 🌿: His later home – beautiful gardens to explore Holy Trinity Church ⛪: Where Shakespeare is buried 🎟️ Combo ticket for Birthplace + New Place: £25 🥐 Hobson’s Patisserie Wanted to try their famous giant scones – but they closed at 4 PM 😭 🚻 Pro Tip Public toilets are near the Birthplace – walk past the statue, turn left then right, and you’ll find clean restrooms by the outdoor car park! 🧻 Shakespeare’s Town is perfect for summer visits ☀️ – the vintage architecture is full of charm, and between the park + market, you can easily spend 2+ hours there! #Coventry #ShakespeareTown #UKTravel 🇬🇧
