🇬🇧 Day Trip from Birmingham: Coventry
Tired of the city center, so I decided to explore Coventry over the weekend! Though known for being a bit "village-like," it still has some spots worth checking out. 🏙️→🌳 ⛪ Holy Trinity Coventry Church A small ancient church in the city center. Nothing extraordinary, but convenient to visit if you're nearby. 🏛️ Coventry Cathedral A landmark of Coventry! This large cathedral consists of two parts: the ruins of the original church damaged in the war (preserving the structure and some sculptures) and a modern new church built beside it. The new church features a massive stained glass wall – very artistic! 🎨✨ 🖼️ Herbert Art Gallery & Museum Coventry’s public art gallery and museum, showcasing the city’s history. The most famous piece is John Collier’s 1897 painting Lady Godiva, which depicts a local legend. There’s even a dedicated exhibition room for this theme, displaying various versions of "Lady Godiva on horseback" – quite fascinating! 🐎👸 🏺 Cat in the Hat Curiosities Antique Shop A small but packed antique store – narrow aisles filled with treasures! Silver jewelry here is much cheaper than in larger antique shops 💍💷. Plus, there’s a nearby Korean restaurant run by Chinese owners – authentic and affordable! 🍜👍 🛒 Coventry Market A large farmers' market selling produce, snacks, wholesale clothes, and crafts. Feels like a market back home! 🥦👚 Unless you need groceries, it might not be worth a special trip – it’s about a 10-15 minute walk from the city center. 📌 Final Thoughts: Coventry isn’t exactly a tourist hotspot, but it’s a nice choice for a relaxed weekend wander! #StudyInUK 🎓 #DayTripFromBirmingham 🚆 #Coventry #UKTravel 🇬🇧 #HiddenGems
