🇬🇧 Lincoln – A Town with Unbeatable Ambience

Day trip to Lincoln with direct train access 🚆 Open return around £12 (with railcard). This charming small town has three main attractions—the Cathedral, the ancient walls, and its prettiest street—all within a 20-minute walking distance. I absolutely adore the window displays in towns like this! Walking up the cobbled street, admiring the shop windows on both sides, was a total aesthetic treat 🛍️👀. The Cathedral offers free entry to UK students—just show your student ID! It’s also known as one of the filming locations for The Da Vinci Code movie 🎬. We happened to visit on a wedding day, so the central area was closed, but the Gothic architecture—pointed spires and stunning stained glass—is very similar to York Minster. Keep an eye out for the legendary “Lincoln Imp” carved on the pillars—it’s based on local folklore 😈. The visitor center also sells cute Imp-themed souvenirs! The Castle sits right across from the Cathedral. We didn’t walk the walls due to rain and the 4 PM closing time 🏰☔, but the wall walk supposedly offers the best view of the Cathedral. Inside, you can see an original copy of the Magna Carta—a super important historical document, as my law student friend confirmed! With the sun setting around 4:30 PM in winter, we got to enjoy incredibly atmospheric night views 🌃✨. All in all—a trip totally worth making! #MovieLocations #ClassicalArchitecture #FairytaleCastle #CinematicVibes #StudyAbroadLife #UKStudentTravel #HiddenGems
