With a history spanning over 2,000 years, it is one of Englandโs oldest continuously inhabited settlements. The area was likely developed as early as the 2nd or 1st century BC, before being colonized by the Romans during the Iron Age. The city lies along the River Soar and borders the National Forest. ๐ข Leicester is also one of the UKโs most culturally diverse cities. It is said that William Shakespeare, the greatest playwright in English literature, once performed here! ๐ก Today, the Guildhall serves as a museum and gallery showcasing medieval England and continues to host cultural events and performances. ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ Leicester Market ๐๐ฝ ๐ Leicester Market, located south of the Haymarket Memorial Clock Tower, is one of Europeโs largest covered outdoor markets. With a history of nearly 800 years, it has been operating at its current site for about 700 years. ๐ The market is open Monday to Sunday from 7 AM to 6 PM. Its 270+ stalls sell almost everythingโespecially fresh fruits and vegetables ๐๐ฅฆ, as well as flowers ๐, second-hand books ๐, trinkets, and jewelry ๐. Regular vendors also offer clothing, cosmetics, fabrics, greeting cards, and pet supplies.
