That’s what I thought before coming… But after a 4-day/3-night solo trip, I almost didn’t want to leave! Choose Syntagma Square or Plaka instead – the closer to the Acropolis, the better. I booked a super cozy Airbnb perfect for solo travelers – with a balcony and a partial night view of the Acropolis 🏛️✨. There’s an AB shop downstairs, but the room fits only one person. 🚇 Transportation Followed ChatGPT’s advice and bought the 3-day pass for €20. Buses are a bit old 🚌, metro is better but infrequent. Phone signal dies underground – missed stops a few times because of this 📵. 🏛️ Acropolis Off-season price: €10 (on-site purchase). Tried the “EU under-25 free ticket” online – rejected ❌. Only for EU nationals. ❗️ Don’t be late! Max 15 mins tolerance. Ticket office closes at 4:40 PM in off-season – I was 30 mins late on Day 1 and got turned away. 📸 Solo photo tip (no tripod needed): Go to the guard booth opposite the Parthenon. I chose Couleur Locale – great reviews, reasonable prices. Some views are partially blocked – go early to grab the best spot! Sip a cocktail 🍹, watch the sunset and city lights – pure bliss! ⛲️ Syntagma Square Caught the changing of the guard – quite humorous 😄. This area up to Monastiraki Square is great for wandering – day vs. night vibe is totally different! Very safe even at night, packed with tourists and energy. 🏛️ Temple of Olympian Zeus Skipped entering – looked scaffolded and not worth €8 🚧. Just viewed from outside the fence. 🏟️ Panathenaic Stadium EU student card = half-price ticket (€5). You can run on the track! 🏃‍♂️ The museum displays Olympic torches – worth the ticket. ❣️ Overall Athens felt safe, with vibrant nightlife options.
