🇬🇷 How to Do Athens in 2 Days & Save €100+ 💶
Athens isn’t huge and the routes are pretty fixed – I’ve planned it all out for you! If you’re really short on time, just do Day 1. Lots of souvenir shops along the way too – shop while you explore! 🛍️ Only 4️⃣ spots truly matter: ❶ Acropolis – Book tickets online in advance 🎫 ❷ Acropolis Museum – Visit before the Acropolis ❸ Panathenaic Stadium – Buy tickets on-site 🏟️ ❹ Sunset – Choose either 🏔️ Lycabettus Hill or 🏔️ Philopappos Hill (one is enough!) Other sites are optional – many are overpriced and not worth it. 🏛️ About the Acropolis: Includes Odeon of Herodes Atticus, Propylaea, Temple of Athena Nike, Erechtheion, Parthenon, Theatre of Dionysus. Don’t overthink the route – just follow the crowd 🚶♂️👣. It’s like touring Beijing’s Forbidden City – compact and straightforward. Best to enter 2 hours before closing – fewer people, golden light, and a chance to connect the ruins with what you saw in the museum. 🏢 About the Acropolis Museum: Go before 10 AM and before visiting the Acropolis. Scan QR codes for audio guides or watch related documentaries beforehand 🎧📱. Learn how sculptures, friezes, and columns were originally placed on the Acropolis. For example, the Parthenon pediments depict Athena’s birth and her rivalry with Poseidon – the stories are fascinating! 🏟️ About the Stadium: Built 2,500 years ago – hosted the first modern Olympics and the 2004 Games. Run a lap on the track – that €10 ticket feels worth it! 🏃♂️💨 🌅 About the Sunset: 🏔️ Philopappos Hill: Free, walkable from the Acropolis. Pass by Socrates’ Prison on the way. 🏔️ Lycabettus Hill: Funicular costs €10 one-way/€13 round-trip (or hike 20 mins 🥾). Crowded at the top. I recommend Philopappos – cheaper, easier, and just as beautiful. But do both if you have time! Save this, travel smart, and enjoy Athens without overspending! 🤓🫶 #AthensGuide #GreeceTravel #EuropeOnABudget #TravelHacks #CityWalk #StudyAbroad
