๐ฌ๐ท How to Spend 2 Days in Athens & Save Over โฌ100 ๐๏ธ๐ถ
While Athens isnโt packed with attractions, the routes are pretty fixed. Iโve planned it all out for you โ main ticket prices and routes are in Figure 2๏ธโฃ! Day 1: ๐ Red Route Day 2: ๐ Blue Route If youโre really short on time, just follow Day 1. Lots of souvenir shops along the way โ perfect for some shopping ๐๏ธ! ๐ฏ Must-Visit Spots (Only 4 Needed) 1๏ธโฃ Acropolis โ Book tickets in advance ๐ , enter at your reserved time. 2๏ธโฃ Acropolis Museum โ Also book ahead; visit before the Acropolis. 3๏ธโฃ Panathenaic Stadium โ Buy tickets on-site. 4๏ธโฃ Sunset โ Choose either Lycabettus Hill or Philopappos Hill ๐ . Other sites are optional โ many are overpriced and not worth it. ๐๏ธ About the Acropolis Includes the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, Propylaea, Temple of Athena Nike, Erechtheion, Parthenon, Theatre of Dionysus. Donโt overthink the route โ just follow the crowd ๐ถโโ๏ธ๐ถโโ๏ธ. The area is compact, like seeing the main halls and gardens of the Forbidden City. Enter about 2 hours before closing. The ruins are mostly open-air โ use your imagination to rebuild what you saw in the museum! ๐ข Acropolis Museum Tips Go before 10 AM, and visit before the Acropolis. Scan QR codes for audio guides or watch related films beforehand ๐ง๐ฌ. Learn how sculptures, steles, and columns were originally placed on the Acropolis. For example, the Parthenonโs pediments show the birth of Athena and her contest with Poseidon โ the stories are fascinating! ๐๏ธ Panathenaic Stadium Built 2,500 years ago โ hosted the first modern Olympics and the 2004 Athens Games. Go for a run ๐ โ that โฌ10 ticket feels worth it here! ๐ Sunset Viewing Philopappos Hill: Walkable from the Acropolis. Pass by Socratesโ Prison ๐ถโ๏ธ โ all free! Lycabettus Hill: A bit farther. Free entry, but the cable car is โฌ10 one-way/โฌ13 round-trip. Or hike up in ~20 mins. The viewing platform is small and can get crowded. I recommend Philopappos โ great value and easy to access. But if you have time, why not both? #Athens #Greece #EuropeTravel #TravelHacks #BudgetTravel #CityWalk #StudyAbroad
