šŸ‡®šŸ‡¹ Rome | Free Contemporary Art Museum Every Tuesday

Today, I want to introduce this ā€œfreeā€ contemporary art museum. The quotes are because it’s free every Tuesday! šŸ‘€šŸ†“ I wasn’t so lucky and went on a day other than Tuesday, so I paid 6€ for the ticket. In addition to the free entry every Tuesday, there are other free admission conditions. If you’re not going on a Tuesday, check in advance to see if you qualify for free entry! šŸ“… Let’s talk about my experience at the MACRO Contemporary Art Museum: It’s located in the SALARIO upscale neighborhood, where there’s no metro but plenty of buses. Via Nizza, where the museum is situated, is one of my favorite streets in Rome—it feels very posh and there’s not much traffic. For locals, it’s easy to get to; for tourists, navigating the buses might be a bit tricky 🤨 It’s close to Piazza Fiume and the famous ā€œmeat sandwichā€ place! Entering the museum building itself is free (similar to MAXXI), so feel free to explore the architecture! However, you need a ticket to enter the exhibition halls. The building’s design is quite interesting: the exterior retains the facade of an old building from last century, but the interior courtyard has been completely transformed into a modern glass structure. As an architecture layperson, I noticed one big issue: too much transparent glass on the roof and walls. In Rome’s scorching summer sun, the interior gets unbearably hot, and the air conditioning can’t keep up! (Any architecture experts out there, please explain!) šŸŒ”ļø When it comes to contemporary art, no matter the country, I’m always puzzled 😬 I mostly just enjoy the installations without really understanding them. I won’t go into detail about the exhibitions. The original restaurant & bar on the first floor has been converted into a free co-working and study area. There are power outlets under each table, and you don’t need a ticket to enter—very welcoming! šŸ’» On the second floor, there’s a small internal library. You can also enter this space without a ticket. The books can’t be borrowed by outsiders, but you can study or work there (note: no air conditioning in the library during summer, just fans—it’s a bit tough, haha). šŸ“š šŸ‘‰ MACRO #RomeMuseum #FreeRomeMuseum #ContemporaryArt #RomanHoliday #RomeTravel #SharedSpace #Rome #RomeTravelTips #HiddenGemsRome
