Tried KooKoo in Columbia Heights on 14th Street! I’d ordered takeout a few times last year and was really impressed with their lamb shank and spiced rice 👌 Went by on the Monday before Thanksgiving—closed! 😭 Finally made it on the third try. Persistence pays off! 🏆 The owners are super friendly and love to chat 🗣️💬 Don’t be shy—just go ahead and pronounce those long dish names! They seem to have great sandwich deals at lunch too. Started with this refreshing salad that gave off major Northeastern Chinese vibes 🌿🧅… complete with crunchy raw onions! The pomegranate-glazed roasted eggplant didn’t look like much but was SO delicious 😋 We ended up using that rich, mole-like sauce to mix with our rice… incredible! Their mixed grill platter was tasty, but honestly?
