No rental car needed – this city is small and walkable! Uber from the airport to downtown was under $20. Tried the bus (comes once an hour… so plan wisely 🚌⏰). Downtown Highlights (can be explored in 2 hours!): Whiskey Row 🥃: Popped into a few spots like Old Forester Distilling Co. – great photo ops and plenty of restaurants! 21c Museum Hotel 🎨: Free tiny art exhibits on the first floor + a gorgeous golden David statue at the entrance! Lottie the Triceratops 🦖: A cute rooftop dinosaur near the science center (right by the highway) – rooftop lovers will adore this! Louisville Slugger Museum ⚾: Didn’t go in (not a baseball fan), but snapped pics with the giant bat outside! Flame Run 🔥: Glass-blowing studio (skipped it). Muhammad Ali Center 🥊: Not my vibe, so passed. Walked 20 mins (or take the bus – $1.50/trip via app) to the legendary Red Tree Furniture 🛋️. Huge store with fun decor – spent 30 mins browsing! The area is a trendy commercial district with shops, restaurants, and already decked out in Christmas decorations! 🎄✨ Skipped Old Louisville. Speed Art Museum 🖼️: Currently featuring Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirror Room! The permanent collection has classic paintings, Egyptian artifacts, and ancient Roman relics. Pro tip: Sundays are FREE! 🎉 Open at 10 AM (despite what the glass signage says). Spent 2 hours here – totally worth it! Churchill Downs 🏇: Two parts – the actual racetrack (hosts real races!) and the Kentucky Derby Museum next door. The museum is small but fun: 360-degree immersive film (30 mins of Derby Day footage – so cool!). Interactive horse racing arcade game 🎮🐎 – race against others on a big screen! Exhibits on how to pick winning horses – plus betting practice machines! KFC Museum 🍗: Located at 1900 Colonel Sanders Ln inside Yum! Brands HQ. Hard to visit – only open weekdays during office hours! Don’t confuse it with Sanders Cafe & Museum (that’s another spot).
