🇺🇸 A Diverse Houston Food Map 🗺️
THE PIT ROOM The pinnacle of Houston BBQ, a paradise for meat lovers 🥩. The Beef Ribs come highly recommended—juicy, flavorful, with a perfect balance of fat and lean, and a firm texture. The mashed potatoes 🥔 and corn kernels 🌽 are also delicious. There are also free pickles; when indulging in big bites of meat, be sure to use the pickles to cut through the richness. IN-N-OUT A West Coast fast-food giant! It’s really cheap + quick, and there are stores everywhere. The menu is simple, so you can’t go wrong with any order. The standard burger 🍔 has one beef patty, while the "double double" has 2 beef patties + 2 layers of cheese. The fries 🍟 are their signature—must eat them while hot. The milkshake 🥤 is tasty but a bit sweet, and the sweetness can’t be adjusted. I usually add some ice water after a few sips to dilute it. Upstairs Bar & Lounge A small, niche gastropub. Recommended dishes are Pizza and Taco. They use traditional Mexican soft corn tortillas for the Tacos, which are soft and chewy. The fillings are diverse, with three meat options: beef 🐂, chicken 🐔, and shrimp 🦐, paired with cucumber, tomato, and vegetables, plus a unique salad dressing to enhance the flavor. The taste is good, the portions are generous. There’s a wait for lunch, so it’s best to make a reservation in advance. GYU-KAKU A popular Japanese BBQ 🥩 buffet among Americans, with chain stores everywhere and great value for money. It’s better to go for lunch—no waiting, and you can choose the lunch set: 2 BBQ items for $17.95, 3 BBQ items for $22.95. Only some meats require extra charge. Recommended are beef tongue and boneless short ribs. It also comes with a bowl of white rice 🍚, a salad 🥗, and a bowl of miso soup 🥣. Two people each choosing 3 meats will basically be full. They also offer all-you-can-eat options, with a wide variety of meats. You can order a la carte, choose a set, or go for the buffet, with various price options. SUMO SUSHI This all-you-can-eat Japanese restaurant has fresh ingredients 🍣, good taste, and is very affordable. Lunch is $19.95 for adults and $12.95 for children. It completely breaks my perception of traditional buffets. Recommended dishes: miso soup, Japanese fried rice, udon noodles, avocado sushi, salmon sushi, and Thai milk tea 🥤 (extra charge). Overall, it’s a place worth revisiting multiple times. Amorino Ice Cream Amorino stacks ice cream of different flavors and colors into rose shapes 🍦. I chose mango, strawberry, and coconut flavors (realized I forgot to take a photo after eating 😂). Personally, the mango flavor is the best—rich fruity taste and smooth texture. #NorthAmericanLife #Texas #Houston #HoustonLife #HoustonFood #HoustonFoodie #HoustonBuffet
