🇺🇸 Aspen Snowmass Must-Eat | Best On-Mountain Lunch at Sam's 🏔️🍽️

During my Christmas ski trip to Aspen, I booked lunch at Sam’s on the first day. As a beginner who hasn’t been to many ski resorts, I was absolutely amazed – this was the best slope-side meal I’ve ever had! 🎄⛷️ 🍤 Food Highlights: Highly recommend the shrimp and prosciutto appetizers! The grilled shrimp served cold with a nutty mayo-like sauce was delicious 🍤🌰 The freshly sliced prosciutto came in a huge portion with bread, jam, and cheese – all surprisingly tasty! 🥓🧀🍞 Two appetizers were almost enough for two light eaters like us! We also ordered a pasta dish – it was just okay, and so heavy that I could barely ski afterward 😭 I’d suggest going for lighter options like salads next time! 🍺 Drinks: We tried a local beer… which turned out to be our second mistake of the day 😅 At high altitude, alcohol hits harder – combined with the carb-loaded pasta, I could hardly make it down the mountain! ⏰ Reservations: Book via Tock (search Snowmass Sam’s). There’s a $50 deposit refundable up to 48 hours prior. I booked a day ahead and got a table. We reserved for 2 PM – too late! Aim for an earlier slot. By the time we finished, the last lift (3:30 PM) had closed. If you’re an expert skier, no worries – you’ve got the mountain to yourself! But patrol will escort you down, which felt stressful for a full-bellied beginner like me. Also, skiing after sunset with flat light is no joke! 😵 🗺️ How to Get There: Two options: Take the Village Express lift 🚡 Ski down from the top via Sneaky’s (keep left). You’ll need to hike about 5 minutes with your skis (see purple route on map – dots = hike required). Note: The restaurant reminds you that you should be comfortable on blue runs to access it. The easiest green run back is apparently not snowboard-friendly (too flat), and the blue run is pretty steep. After that pasta and beer, I embarrassingly had to get help from patrol to get down 🥲 ⚠️ Pro Tips: Don’t overeat! Go easy on drinks! Finish early and ski down safely! #Aspen #AspenSkiing #Snowmass #AspenFood #SkiColorado #ColoradoFood #Ikon 🎿✨
