🇺🇸💒 Cathedral of the Madeleine
(August travel diary) The famous Mormon Temple was still under renovation 🛠️, so I stumbled upon this beautiful cathedral near my Airbnb—and absolutely loved it! 💕 📜 National Register of Historic Places 🏛️ Utah State Historic Site 📍 Cathedral of the Madeleine (Note: Parking is tricky nearby—I found a spot a short walk away with 1-hour free parking!) Built in 1899 under the direction of Lawrence Scanlan—the first bishop of Salt Lake City and a dedicated missionary. The cathedral was later completed by his successors. The beauty of this cathedral—both inside and out—is truly breathtaking! 😲✨ I saw the classic “confession booths” where believers seek forgiveness (just like in the movies! 🎬🙏) There’s also a beautifully ornate donation box 💰, and a grand pulpit where scripture is read and sermons are delivered. Whether you’re religious or not, the architecture and atmosphere here are moving and photogenic! #SaltLakeCityCathedral #CathedralOfTheMadeleine #LALife #USATravel #Utah #VisitUtah #UtahTourism #SLC #SaltLakeCityTravel #HistoricChurches #ArchitectureLovers #SpiritualJourney #HiddenGems #TravelDiary #CulturalSites #Wanderlust #PhotoSpot
