🇺🇸 DC Area Hotel Stay | Asbury Ocean Club Hotel Review

Life’s been so busy lately—all I wanted for my break was to relax somewhere different. So for Thanksgiving, I used my FHR benefit and drove about 3 hours from DC to the Asbury Ocean Club Hotel (even though I had to take a long work call on the way… 😅). The hotel’s design and service really stood out in the best way! 1️⃣ They use laminate wood flooring! So much better than gross carpet or ugly tile. 2️⃣ Finally—a U.S. hotel that uses duvet covers instead of that annoying flat sheet + comforter sandwich! And they didn’t tuck the duvet tightly under the mattress. BLESS. 🙌 3️⃣ High ceilings and tasteful design everywhere. Floor-to-ceiling windows, plus full-height glass walls between the bathroom and bedroom made the whole space feel open and luxurious. Even the mirror went all the way up! Toiletries were amazing too. 🛁✨ 4️⃣ The room had a Bluetooth speaker and a private balcony. Ordering breakfast to the room, sunbathing, watching cartoons in bed with coffee—perfect recharge! 🔋☀️ 5️⃣ Every staff member seemed genuinely happy (not in an over-the-top way). One employee said they get good holiday pay, so no wonder they were smiling! 😄 That said, a few downsides: 1️⃣ The food was… not great. And we’re not picky! The pork chop was bland and burnt in places, Brussels sprouts were oddly sweet, and the coffee was just meh. ☕😬 2️⃣ As a resort, it’s pretty small. More than one night might feel boring. The pool was closed for winter (and it’s small). Besides the beach, the area feels very rural—not a tropical paradise. The town outside the hotel gave off strong "suburban-rural mix" vibes, and the condos next door had me wondering… who buys here? 😂 Still, it's a reliable choice for a quick local escape—perfect for using your Fine Hotels & Resorts credits and relaxing during a long weekend. 🏖️ On your return trip to DC, consider making stops in Philadelphia and Longwood Gardens! And Philly's Chi Cha San Chen serves absolutely fantastic bubble tea—it genuinely tastes like they use fresh milk instead of powdered creamer (why can't boba shops in the DMV area figure this out?
