🇺🇸 DC Food Hits & Misses – Don’t Fall For These Traps! 💣

Spent three days eating my way through DC based on recommendations. Here’s my real take on what’s worth it and what’s not. 1️⃣ Jaleo by Jose Andres – Spanish 🇪🇸 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The only place that truly impressed me. Every dish was a hit! 🧀 Creamy Chicken & Cheese Pasta – Cheese lovers will adore this. Rich, stretchy cheese with minced chicken—so creamy and flavorful! 🐙 Squid Ink Paella – Unique and delicious. The charred octopus paired with savory ink sauce was incredible. Other recommendations: Garlic shrimp (cooked like escargot—tender and bouncy), and the Sangria 🍷 (some say it’s light, but it paired well with the food). 2️⃣ Highly-Rated Peruvian Spot: Pisco y Nazca 🇵🇪 🌟🌟🌟 Rated 4.9 on Google and hard to book. Good, but not mind-blowing. 🍖 Tacu Seco De Cordero – Slow-cooked lamb shank, tender and flavorful. The rice underneath soaked up all the juices—so tasty! 🐙 Plancha Pulpo – Grilled octopus with mashed potatoes. 🍰 Leche Cheesecake – Rich and not overly sweet. 3️⃣ Tatte Bakery & Cafe ☕️ 🌟🌟🌟🌟 A reliable brunch spot I always visit in Boston—DC’s branch didn’t disappoint. Their pastries are always a win. 🥧 Nut Box – Perfectly sweet with crunchy nuts. 🥐 Almond Croissant – Highly recommended. 🥪 Previously tried their sandwiches—all great. This time, had Shakshuka and fig ciabatta—both delicious. 4️⃣ Unconventional Diner 💣🌟 A real letdown—especially for a Michelin-starred spot. 🥞 Pancake – Way too sweet. 🍟 Truffle Fries – Over-salted. Service was confusing and underwhelming. Honestly, I’d rather go to Tatte. Overall, compared to NYC, DC feels a bit like a food desert with limited entertainment. Most hyped spots are just okay—but the brunch scene has good vibes. Perfect for coffee ☕, museums, and taking it slow. #DCfood #DCeats #FoodReview #DCBrunch #WashingtonDC #StudyAbroadEats 🍽️😊👎
