🇺🇸 Florida | Gainesville | Mr. & Mrs. Crab 🦀🦞

You can’t visit the South without trying a seafood boil! 🎉 This weekend we checked out Mr. & Mrs. Crab right here in Gainesville. Founded in 2016, this spot may be young, but it’s already expanded to 22 locations across the U.S. 🌟 The owners were inspired during a trip to New Orleans. After diving deeper into the local seafood boil tradition, they brought the concept back to Florida—with a twist! While staying true to classic cooking methods, they infused Asian flavors, including Sichuan spices, creating a uniquely delicious taste. We ordered takeout on a Saturday evening. The service was super quick—ready in just 5-10 minutes! ⏳ While waiting, I peeked around: the dining area was clean and inviting. Though not many were dining in, the phone kept ringing with pickup orders—always a good sign! 📞 Our order came neatly packed in a foil tray inside a bag, complete with gloves, wet wipes, and napkins. We ordered: 🦐 1 lb head-on shrimp 🦞 1 lb crawfish 🦀 1/2 lb blue crab 🦑 1/2 lb squid rings 🌽 3 corns Total after tax: $65 Each seafood bag comes with baby potatoes and corn. The portion was generous—we were stuffed! 💰 For a seafood boil in the U.S., this is pretty standard pricing. We went with their special sauce—a mix of Cajun, garlic butter, and lemon pepper. Compared to Boiling Crab (a Dallas favorite), Mr. & Mrs. Crab wins for the “Chinese palate” 🧄🌶️. Their sauce is rich with garlic and Chinese chili oil, nicely thickened—not watery or powdery like traditional Cajun sauces can be. 🦐 Shrimp: My fave—easy to eat and full of flavor! Mostly fresh, though a few weren’t top-tier. 🦞 Crawfish: Clean and tender, but pretty small. Good for fun, but don’t expect China-sized crawfish! 🦀 Blue Crab: Decent-sized, male crabs. Fresh and meaty. 🦑 Squid Rings: A surprise hit! Crispy, chewy, and well-seasoned. Overall: 4/5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐ It may not beat boils back in China, but it definitely satisfies the craving! If you order takeout, try tossing noodles or veggies into the leftover sauce… absolutely chef’s kiss! 👌🍜 📍 Mr. & Mrs. Crab 📌 #Florida #UF #Gainesville #SeafoodBoil #ChineseFoodie #USALife #FoodReview
