🇺🇸 Fresh Seafood Market in DC – Cooked Right Before Your Eyes! 🦞
Location: 1100 Maine Ave SW, Washington, DC 20024 Decided to take an evening stroll at The Wharf today. Maybe because it’s a weekday, there were plenty of street parking spots – and it’s free after 6:30 PM! 🚗💨 After a 5-minute walk along the river, you’ll reach the seafood market 🏃♀️💨. One side sells raw seafood, the other cooked – both run by the same vendor. Though the variety isn’t huge, they have all the popular items. There are small tables in the middle of the market, so I stood there and ate right away – loved the casual vibe, the breeze, and the view of the shimmering water and lit-up bridge 🌉✨. There’s also a public restroom about 200 meters away for washing hands. 1️⃣ P2 shows the crab price list. I bought a dozen (12) medium female crabs for $18 🦀. If you ask for on-the-spot cooking, they’ll steam them for free across the counter. They’ll also ask if you want seasoning and chili. In about 10 minutes, you get a big paper bag – each crab was full of roe, and the meat was super fresh! It might not be fancy or super clean, but I enjoyed it so much 🥳. 2️⃣ Tried a large crab leg – weighed and priced at $17. The meat was tender and rich, especially with melted butter 🧈💛. 3️⃣ Ordered a regular-sized clam chowder for $6 🥣. It was a creamy clam soup – a bit salty as expected, but I loved the creamy flavor. Dipping seafood in it was delicious! 4️⃣ Asked the vendor to pick a small lobster for me – $26 🦞. The meat was bouncy and fresh. Dipping it in the clam chowder was so satisfying 😌. They also sell crawfish, mussels, oysters, shrimp, salmon… You can buy them to cook at home too! 👍 #DMV #DMVFood #StudyInUSA #InternationalStudent #Foodie #Seafood #SeafoodMarket #TheWharf #Crab #Lobster
