🇺🇸 I Captured the Spectacular Train in the Utah Canyon
Most tourists visiting near Moab, Utah, come for Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park 🏞️. However, the Colorado River Canyon southwest of Moab also hides many treasures and photo opportunities 📸. The railway in the cover image is located near Corona Arch Trailhead 🚂. While it’s a popular spot for hikers’ profile pictures online, few have actually captured a train passing through. Between towering red rock cliffs and man-made vertical cuts in the canyon—built for the railroad—the train winds its way, telling a story of the wild West and the determination of American pioneers who conquered this rugged landscape. This railway was built in 1965 to serve the potash mines deep in the canyon. It stretches from the junction of UT-191 and US-70 toward Moab. Many assume it’s abandoned, but after digging through U.S. railroad forums, I learned that 📍currently, the train runs only once a week on Fridays—entering the canyon around 10:30 AM and exiting around 5 PM📍. On the last morning of my trip, I successfully captured it! 📍 To shoot the cover image, navigate to Corona Arch Trailhead. Using a drone to track the train allowed me to capture the grand valley view seen in 🚁. Other photos were taken along UT-191 northwest of Moab. If you spot the train along UT-191, you’ll have enough time to drive into the canyon and wait for it 🚗💨. Wishing everyone a chance to capture epic train scenes beyond the classic national parks! #Photography #AerialPhotography #LandscapePhotography #Travel #LandscapePhotographer #USA #TravelUSA #WondersOfNature #GrandCanyon #TrainLovers 🚆🌄
