🇺🇸 JHU Undergraduate Diary: Seafood Experience at DC's Fiola Mare 🦞
Fiola Mare – a popular seafood spot in Washington DC! 🏙️ 👨🍳 Service: Impeccable and super friendly! The staff warmly guided us, offered to take photos 📸, and checked in to see if we enjoyed the dishes. Really attentive! 💫 🍽️ Food: The menu changes daily 🗓️, and the seafood is fairly fresh. Lobster dishes were delicious 🦞, but the sashimi was just okay—I’ve had better back in Shenzhen. The seafood tower didn’t quite suit my palate 🗼; the flavors were inventive, probably great for those who enjoy Euro-Asian fusion cuisine. Some items, like the iced fish sashimi, felt a bit too adventurous for me. 🧊🐟 I usually love unique flavor combinations, but there’s a difference between uniquely delicious and uniquely strange 😅… The sashimi didn’t win me over, and for the price, it felt a bit overrated. 💸 🌅 Ambiance: Nice waterfront views 🌊, comfortable indoor temperature, and the decor was clean and elegant. ✨ 📌 Final Thoughts: Maybe my standards are higher since returning from China 🍜✈️, but some of the novel flavors here felt more like novelty than nuance. It’s a nice spot for Instagram photos 📷… but a word of advice: skip the seafood tower, skip the seafood tower, skip the seafood tower! 🚫🗼 Have you been to Fiola Mare?
