🇺🇸 LA Food Recommendations – Perfect for the Chinese Palate 😋
Having been in LA for almost a year now, here’s my roundup of food that truly hits the spot for fellow Chinese food lovers👇🏻 Every spot is delicious! 1️⃣ (Gyū-Kaku / Bull Warrior) The most satisfying AYCE BBQ spot — I go almost every month for a meat feast! The meat is fresh, the menu is huge, and their boba milk tea 🧋 is amazing — tastes just like back home. Downside: a bit pricey (even the cheapest set is ~$70/person after tip). 2️⃣ (Yin Xiang Chang’an) My go-to late-night noodle spot 🍜 (open till 10pm). Authentic Shaanxi flavors — their roujiamo is juicy and fragrant, lamb noodle soup is rich, and the fried skewers are tasty. Perfect for a hearty meal when hungry! 3️⃣ (Shancheng Lameizi) Legit Chongqing hot pot 🍲 — the red oil broth is super aromatic. Free toppings bar includes tangyuan, ice jelly, snacks, etc. Great service, fresh ingredients, decent prices (not cheap), clean environment. 4️⃣ (Mǎlù Biānbiān) AYCE hot pot skewers — super affordable (~$30–40 per person). Tons of skewer choices, and their ice jelly is incredible 😍 Also has fried mantou. Great value for the price! 5️⃣ (Sanlitun Iron Pot Stew) As a Northeastern kid, I craved this! Huge iron pot stews — a 2-person portion feeds three easily. Very authentic Dongbei vibe — try the liangpi and guobaorou! (Just avoid the string beans…) 6️⃣ (Tang Bar) The best build-your-own spicy hot pot in LA! Must-order the traditional mala broth — tastes just like maocai! Loads of fresh ingredients ($15.99/lb), great service. 7️⃣ (Dìtǎn Fried Skewers) Started as an SGV food truck, now a brick-and-mortar. Fried skewers coated in sauce — so satisfying! Also recommend their old-school spicy hot pot and chicken sticks. Perfect for late-night eats. 8️⃣ Pho Hà Popular Vietnamese pho chain — I fell in love with pho after coming to the US. Phở Đặc Biệt (No. 1) never disappoints — super savory broth. Spring rolls and bánh mì are also tasty (a bit on the salty side). 9️⃣ Sake2Me AYCE sushi spot — sushi is fresh and varied, appetizers like mussels and shrimp balls are great too.😘🙌 Sashimi selection is limited, but weekday lunch is a steal! 🔟 (Xingfu Small Skewers) Rowland Heights spot where every skewer is $1 — pick your own and grill them yourself! Meat is tender, seasoning is on point. Downside: DIY grilling takes effort and heat control can be tricky. Discount after 11pm — great for late-night beer and skewers 🍢🍺 #USA #StudyAbroadLife #LosAngeles #LAEats #LifeInAmerica #Foodie #StudentLife #FoodShare
