🇺🇸 Los Liones Trail: Overlooking Los Angeles from Above 🏞️✨
Hiked the Los Liones Trail in LA—took about 4 hours round trip to reach Parker Mesa Overlook, and it was totally worth it! From the top, you can see the San Antonio snow-capped mountains, the LA Downtown skyline, and the entire coastline stretching along the Pacific. 🌄🌊 This trail was affected by the wildfire in January 2025. According to AllTrails reviews, vegetation was significantly reduced afterward, but by October 2025, many plants have already started growing back—nature’s resilience is amazing! 🌱🔥 The trail is mostly dirt and rocky, so wearing shoes with good grip is highly recommended. 👟 There are two trail entrances: 📍 Entrance B – A short 15-minute easy hike leads to Paseo Mirar Viewpoint, where you can already enjoy a full view of LA! The downside: it’s in a residential area with no parking. Great for those taking a taxi or hiking with family members who prefer an easier route. 📍 Entrance A – This is where most people start. It takes about 30 minutes to reach Paseo Mirar, and another 1.5–2 hours to reach the summit at Parker Mesa Overlook (round trip ~4 hours). The section from Paseo Mirar to Parker Mesa is noticeably steeper and more challenging (Medium to Hard difficulty). Personally, I think the view from Paseo Mirar is already stunning—especially if you’re hiking with family, going all the way to the top isn’t necessary. But if you make it to Parker Mesa, you’ll be rewarded with views of Mt. San Antonio (100+ miles away) and Santa Catalina Island! 🏔️🏝️ Highly recommended if you have the stamina—it’s incredibly rewarding. There’s no shade from Paseo to Parker, so start early to avoid the heat. ☀️ We went on a Friday morning and had the trail almost to ourselves, but weekends can get crowded—arrive early if you want to snag a free parking spot!
