White House: The presidential residence—solemn outside, politically charged inside. Washington Monument: Towering tribute to the first U.S. president. Lincoln Memorial: Greek temple-style monument honoring one of America’s greatest leaders. 📚 Living History Textbook National Mall: Monuments to three major wars, inspiring reflection on peace and conflict. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial: A powerful tribute to the civil rights leader. 🚉 Transportation Hub Union Station: The largest and most beautiful train station in the U.S.—a place of emotional hellos and goodbyes. 🌸 Natural Beauty Tidal Basin: Gorgeous cherry blossoms and serene views along the Potomac River. 🏛️ Museum Heaven Smithsonian Institution: The world’s largest museum complex—19 museums showcasing human civilization. National Air and Space Museum: Home to the Wright brothers’ 1903 flyer and the Apollo spacecraft. National Museum of Natural History: Over 140 million artifacts, including the real “Heart of the Ocean” from Titanic. 💡 Pro Tip The Washington Monument was the highlight of my trip! 🎯 To go up, you need reservations—released daily at 10 AM for the next day, but online slots fill fast. If you can’t book online, try showing up around 8:15 AM for same-day tickets.
