🇺🇸 Revisiting Houston? I’d Only Go to These Spots
If I were to explore Houston again, here’s exactly where I’d go: 🎨 MFAH (The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston) The biggest surprise of my trip — ended up being my favorite spot! ✨ Not one, but three buildings connected by two underground passages — each tunnel itself is a light-art installation. The layout is spacious and thoughtfully designed — no crowding or confusing paths. My two favorite permanent exhibits (both in the Beck Building): 1️⃣ Fayez Sarofim Collection (1st floor): Stunning portrait gallery featuring Sargent and William Merritt Chase — absolutely mesmerizing. 2️⃣ A beautifully curated hallway on the 2nd floor: Works grouped by style (Pointillism, Impressionism, Fauvism, etc.). It’s a brilliant, clear intro to different art movements. ☕ And then there’s the cafe — Leonelli! Honestly one of the best museum cafés I’ve ever been to. I ate three meals here — no regrets! Must-try: Saffron Salmon with Spinach and Chicken Marsala 🍽️ 📌 PS: Even on weekends, it wasn’t crowded. Serene and perfect for slow exploring. 🖼️ The Menil Collection A campus of 4 buildings — compact and quick to explore (no photography inside). The main building holds most of the collection. Highlights? Multiple Magritte works, including the famous “Golconda”! 🤯 🏞️ Buffalo Bayou Park Perfect for running, walking, or a relaxed day out. Offers great skyline views, sculptures, pavilions, lawns, and even a skate park. A green oasis right in the city 🌿 🎓 Rice University Had no idea Rice was in Houston before — but so glad I discovered it! An open, peaceful campus with no entry restrictions. Easy parking 🚗 Best at golden hour: Stroll through the main lawn, then catch the sunset at the James Turrell Skyspace installation — magical! 🌆 💦 Water Wall Park An unforgettable experience — both visually impressive and physically immersive (hello, misty breeze!). Short but totally worth the visit 💧📸 #Houston #TravelHouston #Museums #ArtLovers #HiddenGems #USATravel #TexasCulture
