๐บ๐ธ Save this now! Found a hidden paradise near Atlanta ๐
Just 1.5 hours from Atlanta โ Welcome to Helen, the charming German-inspired town! ๐ Morning: Chill River Tubing You canโt visit Helen without tubing down the Chattahoochee River! ๐ถ Go with Helen Tubing โ the 1-hour route is around $20 per person. They provide tubes and shuttle service. Wear quick-dry swimwear + a sun shirt, and put your phone in a waterproof pouch (hang it around your neck โ trust me on this ๐). The river is calm most of the way โ super relaxing! But some quick turns might splash you, so bring a change of clothes and a towel. โ ๏ธ Tips: โถ Arrive before 10 AM to avoid crowds โท Apply sunscreen 3x! The reflection on the water is no joke โ๏ธ โธ If you wear contacts, goggles are a good idea ๐ Tubing spot: 222 Edelweiss St (right across the parking lot) ๐ Lunch: German Pork Knuckle Head straight to Hofbrauhaus Restaurant in the town center after tubing! Their Crispy Pork Knuckle is LEGENDARY ๐ โ crackling skin like crรจme brรปlรฉe, and the meat inside is so tender it drips juice! Served with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. Enough for 2-3 people. Donโt forget to try the German dark beer (Dunkel) โ rich and malty ๐บ โจ Pro tip: Stuff sauerkraut between the crackling and the meat โ the combo of sour, crispy, and tender is insane! We got there at 11:30 AM and beat the crowd. After 12 PM, expect waits up to 1 hour. ๐ธ Hidden Gem: The town streets are super photogenic! After eating, take a stroll and snap pics in front of the red-roofed cottages ๐ก For afternoon tea, try the pretzels and rainbow gelato โ more on that in my next post! ๐ One-Day Itinerary: Tubing โ Pork Knuckle โ Street Photography โ Waterfall Hike (add Anna Ruby Falls if time allows!) #HelenGeorgia #AtlantaDayTrip #RiverTubing #Hofbrauhaus #GermanFood #TravelGeorgia
